There's more than just asphalt in Île-de-France, and that's what you'll discover if you participate in the EcoTrail of Paris! The capital opens its doors to fans of responsible sports by offering 9 different distances. So grab your tickets because you are sure to find the distance you need 😏. Yes, you can choose from 7 trail distances (120 km, 80 km, 45 km, 35 km, 30 km, 20 km, 10 km) and 2 Nordic walks (20 km and 10 km). Isn't that great? And you haven't seen anything yet... First, wait to cross the numerous parks, woods, stroll along the beautiful Seine and climb the floors of the Eiffel Tower 😍.
Even though it is clear that the Iron Lady, the Champ-de-Mars and the monuments historical are the stars of the various races, know that you will especially have the chance to enjoy an exceptional natural setting 🌤. Indeed, if you are not familiar with the concept of an EcoTrail, it involves using preserved natural trails to raise awareness among runners and the public of the fragility of the environment. The goal of such a competition is essentially to raise awareness of the climate emergency through an awareness campaign 🤝. Thus, every waste is sorted and collected, trails are cleaned, and the products used are sustainable, local, and seasonal... Mmmh, that makes you want to frolic in the forest, doesn't it? 🍂
But enough about the concept, let's talk about the trails! The race starts will be held in unusual places. Drum roll... 🥁 You can choose from the terrace of the Paris Observatory in Meudon (which is generally closed to the public, what a chance you have!), the Ile de Loisirs de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the Domaine du Château de Versailles or the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud... 😯 Enough to make you sing the Marseillaise at the top of your lungs as you visit the emblematic places of our heritage 🎙. In fact, the highlight of most races happens to be the Eiffel Tower itself, lucky you. But the races are primarily in nature, composed on average of 85 or 90% green spaces.
So, what motivates you the most? Nature, monuments, or environmental commitment? Whatever your answer, the EcoTrail Paris will satisfy you. So break the monotony of Parisian life and the adage 'metro work sleep'. You won't be disappointed once you understand that it is also pleasant to stroll in the region without suffocating while enjoying its splendid natural spaces! 😄 After your race, we invite you to linger longer to explore more of the city of light and its surroundings 🥐.
When Paris wakes up, Paris is green! 🟢
For this ultra trail of 120 km, you will start from the Château de Rambouillet! 🏰 You will pass very close to the étangs de Hollande 🏞️ and then venture into the Chevreuse Valley where you will encounter quite a few castles: Abbaye de Cernay, Château de Dampierre, Château de Breteuil, Château de Méridon or even the Château de la Madeleine. After this escape through history (an escape of 80 km nonetheless), you will join the 45 km route to finish in style on the Pont d'Iéna! 🌉
The 80 km of the EcoTrail Paris is THE historic distance since 2008. To start this ultra, you will need to go to the Ile de Loisirs de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, a great place to get back to nature! 🍀 After skirting the water, you will pass by the Bois des Roussières before heading to the Observatoire de Paris, the oldest functioning observatory in the world. Unfortunately, you won't have time to wave hello to Thomas Pesquet (a little nod to our national hero 🚀), as you'll then need to cross the Forêt Domaniale de Versailles and the Bois des Metz. On your route, you will also have the chance to pass through the Bois de Clamart, the Forêt Domaniale de Meudon, the Forêt Domaniale de Fausses-Reposes to reach the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud. Then you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful gardens, statues, fountains, and ruins of the park's old buildings 💐⛲. You will then head to the Seine and, more precisely, Île Saint-Germain, which you will partially cross. Indeed, you're quite lucky because the rest of the route from km 70 will let you follow the river to the Pont d’Iéna, which connects the Trocadéro and The Iron Lady (no, not Margaret Thatcher 👵). The final spectacle will make many envious since the finish line is on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. Save some battery for the photo shoot! 📸
In total, four refreshment points are planned, including one for liquids only. Also, you can book a meal at the end of the race. The route is relatively smooth, but still be prepared to overcome 1 500 m of positive elevation gain 😧. The route is 92% in nature and the terrain mainly consists of trails and paths. It's an ideal setting to discover the western part of the capital and its green spaces, all while participating in a run committed to the environment ♻.
Stretching 45.8 km, the EcoTrail of Paris marathon begins in style: you will start from the Palace of Versailles 👑. The organizers are so noble! With 900 m of positive elevation gain and 800 m of negative elevation, the course awaiting you (85% nature) is mainly composed of paths and trails. If you wanted something green and eco-friendly, you're in luck! Just like the 80 km trail runners, you too will pass through the Forest of Meudon and the National Estate of Saint-Cloud 🌳🌹. At km 37, you'll join the route along the Seine River before crossing the Île Saint-Germain and its park. The finish line will offer you a breathtaking spectacle: right in the middle of the Pont d'Iena, between the Place du Trocadéro and the Champ de Mars 😍.
Starting from the terrace of the Observatory of Meudon 🔭 (usually closed to the public), the 30 km of the EcoTrail Paris offers a complete trail route that will allow beginners to test their abilities. The course, in nature 82% of the time, will have you overcoming more than 500 m of positive elevation 💪. You will notably pass through the paths and trails of the Meudon state forest before heading toward the National Estate of Saint-Cloud. You will then follow the Seine quays for 8 km before finishing your race on the Pont d'Iéna, facing the Eiffel Tower 🗼.
With its 400 m of elevation gain, the 20 km of the EcoTrail Paris is a course that is almost entirely natural, up to 90% 🌬. A boon for Parisians looking to escape the city for a day. This green route starts at the terrace of the Observatory of Meudon, normally closed to the public, before bringing you to the National Estate of Saint-Cloud. To get there, you will pass through the Meudon State Forest as well as the Fausses Reposes State Forest 🌲🦉.
The free pace of the 20 km at the EcoTrail Paris will relieve many and allow numerous participants to enjoy a nature escape just steps away from the capital 🇫🇷. Composed of 90% trails and natural paths, this nordic walking follows the same route as its twin, the 20 km trail, and will lead you past the Paris Observatory before bringing you to the National Domain of Saint-Cloud 🥰.
Ideal for amateur trail runners or beginners in running, the 10 km of the ÉcoTrail Paris is a circuit specially designed to discover trail running. Participants will follow a loop that takes them from and back to the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, all in a 92% natural setting with little elevation gain (170 m) 🔁.
Following the same route as the 10 km trail, Nordic walking offers participants the chance to escape and enjoy the natural and cultural heritage of the Île-de-France region at your own pace 🏃♀️. With 170 m of elevation gain, the course is 92% natural and will take you on a loop around the National Domain of Saint-Cloud ⛲.
