Why does the Istanbul Marathon cross two continents?

The Istanbul Marathon crosses two continents because the city stretches on both sides of the Bosphorus between Asia and Europe. The race starts on the Asian side, then the 15 July Martyrs Bridge takes you over into Europe. The Istanbul Marathon, born in 1979 under the name "Asia-Europe Run", has embraced this nod since its beginnings.
