UTMB Franck Oddoux
Originally from Aveyron, Agathe Bes is among the French women rising in ultra-trail. Based in Valloire, in Savoie, she races in the colors of Annecy Athlétisme and goes by the nickname “The Power” ⚡. Her résumé already boasts some solid lines: victory on the Traversée Nord of Échappée Belle in 2024, a title on the Endurance Trail of the Templiers in 2025, then first place in the “Wild 70” at Wildstrubel by UTMB in 2026. It all started at home, on the causses of her childhood. In 2016, she pinned on a bib for the “VO2 Trail” at the Festival des Templiers, in Millau, and finished 65th woman. Ten years later, the same finish line saw her win.
Before the Savoyard peaks, Agathe Bes cut her teeth on the limestone plateaus of the Larzac. Her first recorded bib numbers tell the story of a patient rise: the “VO2 Trail” in 2016 (16.9 km, 2h10'46"), a vertical race at the Larzac Trip Trail in 2017, then the “Boffi Fifty” at the Templiers in 2019, finished in 5th place among women.
The breakthrough came with the move to the Alps. Based in Maurienne, she devours the switchback trails of the Trail du Galibier-Thabor every summer, until she won it in 2023. In between, the local girl claimed her first big victory at home: the “Intégrale des Causses” in 2022, 67 km and 3,000 mD+ under the October sun 🌄 .
The best example of her progress? The Ultra Tour du Beaufortain. Fifth in 24h12'45" in 2022, she came back the following year and took 2nd place in 19h18'02", almost five hours faster on the same 114 km course.
In 2024, she took on the “Traversée Nord” of l’Échappée Belle, in the Belledonne range: 92 km and 6,735 mD+, a demanding race where every ridge stings. She won in 17h13'35", 15th overall.
The following year, the adopted Savoyard returned to Millau for her “race of the heart,” an unmissable family fixture every October. Yet the script looked off to a bad start: a twisted ankle three weeks before the start 🦶 . Another challenge: the Endurance Trail at the Festival des Templiers lays out a more runnable profile than her Alpine playgrounds, with long flat sections where you mustn’t get carried away.
Result: 100 km and 4,271 mD+ completed in 11h13'47", a win and 24th place overall. She crossed the line in tears, unsteady, before taking a victory lap in front of the fervor of the Aveyron crowd 🥲 . A loyalty rewarded for someone who has run more than half of the festival’s races.
The trail runner steps up again in 2026. Winner of the Trail Nivolet-Revard in May, she measures herself against the international elite at the Lavaredo Ultra Trail, in the Dolomites, and finishes 7th in the “80K” 🇮🇹 . In September, she wins the “Wild 70” at Wildstrubel, a UTMB World Series stop in Switzerland: 72 km, 4,600 mD+, 8h07'10" and 16th place overall.
Next chapter: the Diagonale des Fous, on Réunion Island, where she will line up among the favorites.
