A marathon that will set off at full throttle! ๐
In February, put away your ski poles and best outfit; it's for Italy that you're about to take off ๐๏ธ. The Ferrara Marathon is held annually in the county of Emilia-Romagna and offers rolling, sunny routes ๐ . Whether you're seeking records or looking for stunning landscapes, this race has something to entice you ๐ . Here, history meets nature, and each step will take you on a journey through time ๐.
In Ferrara, 3 distances will be offered: the legendary Ferrara Marathon of 42.195 km, the Ferrara Half Marathon of 21.0975 km, and the Ferrara City Run of 10 km. You will be able to choose among the most popular distances of all time ๐คฉ. Additionally, the route is 100% on pavement ๐ฃ๏ธ; there's no traversing on wild nature trails. Here we are in search of speed ๐จ. What is certain is that you will dream of local pizzas and Parma ham to keep you motivated ๐. But let's focus on the race! You'll zigzag between cobbled streets and fortifications of the small Italian ๐ฎ๐น town. Between the Castello Estense, the Duomo, or the Palazzo Municipale of Ferrara, you'll see all sorts of colors and shapes ๐จโ๐จ.
If you really want to discover what La Dolce Vita means ๐ต, there's no need to watch the famous film by Federico Fellini (although he did win a gold palm), just stroll along at the pace of the locals. The city, which is less than an hour from the coast, allows you to combine swimming and hiking in the same trip ๐ช. The Adriatic Sea and its deep blue will hypnotize you and make sure you don't leave without a dip to feel the water's temperature ๐. Once you've crossed the finish line, you can also continue your visit through the charming streets of Ferrara, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site ๐. If you'd rather relax and stretch your legs, you can head to Parco Massari for a picnic in the splendid surroundings here. A touch of greenery in the middle of the city center. And if your stomach also wants to travel: taste the local delights at one of the region's typical restaurants. Parmesan, fresh pasta, and savor modenese will surely make your heart flutter ๐.
At the Ferrara Marathon, "Prendere due piccioni con una fava" (kill two birds with one stone ๐ชจ) by combining sport, culture, history, and vacation ๐ค.
