Marseille-Cassis! The name alone makes us eager to be there 😍.
South, Bouches-du-Rhône, Côte d’Azur, PACA, beaches 🏖️, sea 🌊, calanques 🏞️, sun 🌞, gorgeous landscapes, want more? 🤔 You'd have to be crazy not to acknowledge the beauty of the south of France 🤪.
We no longer need to introduce the famous Marseille-Cassis race... Yet, we'll tell you a bit more about this splendid world-renowned event 🌎. Created in 1979 (also the year the movie Les Bronzés font du ski was released, what a year 😎). During the first edition, 700 participants took part in the race 🤓. Today, over 20,000 participants take off each year on this route! 🤯 Moreover, it's held in October, so you won't be too hot 🥵 or too cold 🥶. Fantastic weather in the south! 😜
Meet at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, not for an OM match 🔵⚪️ but to get started in this superb road race 🛣️. The magic of Marseille-Cassis also lies in its course 🧭. Yes, throughout the 20 km, a series of postcard-worthy landscapes 🌅 awaits, including the crossing of the Calanques National Park, offering a breathtaking natural panorama over 12 km 🥰. And the highlight? You end your journey in the heart of the vineyards of Provence, in Cassis. We've seen worse finishes 😅.
As Hervé Villard would say, Caaaassssssssiiiiiiiis is over! 🎤
While there isn't a Marseille-Cassis marathon, you can certainly make the return trip from Cassis to Marseille 🌞. Expect a wide range of scenery with some significant ups and downs, a 5km climb 📈, and the Col de la Gineste ⛰️ at 327 meters high. But trust us, the unparalleled beauty of the course and the diversity of landscapes will make you forget any pain 😌. Unsurprisingly, runners worldwide mark Marseille-Cassis in their calendars each year 🏃...
