Get ready to see life in pink 💕, and no, it's not because you overindulged in Patxaran the night before at Petit Bayonne! 🍷 Welcome to Odysséa Bayonne, the event where your cardio finally serves a purpose other than catching the bus 🚌. We meet in Bayonne (surprising, isn't it? 😜) in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques 🗓️ for a wave of solidarity in favor of three organizations: the League Against Cancer of Pyrénées Atlantiques, the association Living Better with My Cancer, and the association Les Battements d'Elles. Plus, we are at mid-April, the blessed time when the Basque sun begins to show its face without turning you into grilled squid on the pavement ☀️.
The menu is more enticing than a plate of Bayonne ham 🍽️: a 10 km for those with ants in their pants and a 5 km (race or walk) in untimed mode for those who just want to chat 🗣️. And the cherry on the Garonne the Adour? 😜 You can participate in the race remotely, as there is a connected part. 5 km or 10 km no matter where you are. Isn't that great! 😍 The course in the Basque Country is as flat as a pepper omelet 🌶️. We run along the Nive, we cross the walls right in the city center, it's so beautiful you could almost forget you're gasping for air 🫁. But it's for a good cause! In terms of culture, we are halfway between the setting of Camping and the Surf's Up but in sports version and without Patrick Chirac and the penguins. It’s chic, it’s pink, and it's above all super dynamic 🚀.
At some point, your body might send you a message like “shall we stop here?” 📩. But around you, there's encouragement, applause, and smiles 👏. And you keep going, because you know why you're there 🙏. Because you see all these people moving forward with you 🏃. And because deep down, even if your legs disagree, your head has already decided to go all the way 💪. Odysséa is that: a mix of effort, emotion, and solidarity that pushes you further than expected ❤️🩹. You know why you're doing it, and especially for whom 🎀.
And once you cross the finish line 🏁, it would be a shame to head straight to the shower without enjoying the area. Because Bayonne is also a very good excuse to extend the weekend 😏. You can stroll through the historic center, breathe in the sea air from the Atlantic coast 🌊. In terms of food, don't pretend: here, we eat well. Very well, even 😮💨. Between a good Bayonne ham, some pintxos to share (or not), and the mythical Basque cake to “recover” 🍰, you clearly have enough to get over your efforts. And if someone asks you why you're eating so much, you can very seriously answer: “it's for recovery” 😄.
So, will you be there? 🤓
Message from the organizer:
"16 years in the Basque Country: what a pride to continue this commitment again this year! Since 2009, we have gathered over 33,000 people and raised €245,800 for the fight against breast cancer for the key players in your region. What a result, thanks to you! The women affected by the disease who receive your support all these years express their emotion at being carried by this beautiful pink wave that brings all generations together. So thank you all for your generosity and loyalty, we look forward to seeing you at the starting line once again on April 19th."
