Semi-Marathon de Barcelone
👨✈️ : "The entire Finishers Airlines ✈️ team is pleased to welcome you aboard this flight bound for the Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks. Upon your arrival, the outside temperature will be 15°C ☀️. The sky should remain clear and sunny throughout your route 😎 ¡ Bienvenido a Barcelona !"
Come on, join us on the journey to the capital of the Catalonia, in Spain 🇪🇸, on the occasion of a unique and exceptional event ✨, which celebrates its 35th anniversary 🎂 this year: the Barcelona Half Marathon. Organized in February, this iconic race gathers more than 23,000 participants from all over the world 🌏. Many Finishers come to tread the sunny streets of the city of Gaudí 🎨, in search of exceeding themselves on the mythical test of 21.0975 km. Because here, in addition to the course that will have you discover some of the most beautiful monuments of the city, it's a rather flat route 📏, at the heart of the city 💗 and the seashore that awaits you. Rest assured: there will be no climb of Park Güell on the menu 😮💨. In fact, the course is so flat that it's perfect to try to break the new record of 56 minutes and 42 seconds held by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo 🚀. Otherwise, you can also simply attempt to beat your own record... That might be more achievable 😅.
One, two, three - one little step forward María 🎵 -, forward! Your race will start in front of the beautiful Parc de la Ciutadella ⛲️, in the heart of the city center 🌆. Then, you'll tread the first kilometers of this half towards ➡️ Plaça Colom, where you can admire the famous Christopher Columbus column 👀. However, you won't have the time to ride the elevator inside and admire the view over La Rambla, but you can come back after your race 😉. Then, after a long straight line (you'll quickly understand why the Barcelona half is renowned for its speed 💨), you'll see the Plaça Espanya and its impressive arena, today transformed into a giant shopping center 🛍️. But no time for a shopping break 🙅, as the next stop is passing in front of El Arco del Triunfo 🏆, the famous Triumphal Arch Spanish style, located at km 7, which you'll find again after a 2.5 km straight. After a quick return to the Parc de la Ciutadella 🌳, you'll head to Carrer del Perú, where you'll see the Torre Glories 👆.
You'll enjoy a new straight line to sprint a bit, which will lead you to the Rambla Prim. At the end of it is the Edifici Fòrum, a provocative triangular construction 📐, located by the sea 🌊. No time for a dip! 🏊 Anyway, it won't exceed 15°C! 😂 You'll have to make a small round trip along Avinguda Diagonal before returning to the Forum 📍 and strolling by the seafront for nearly 4 km, along Passeig Garcia Faria and Avenida del Litoral 🏃♀️. At the end of the promenade, you'll see the famous skyscrapers of Barcelona, the Mapfre Tower and its cousin Hotel Arts Tower. At that point, your efforts are almost over, as you'll only have one last kilometer to cover before crossing the finish line 🏁 at the entrance of Parc de la Ciutadella! 😻 What? Is it already over? 😳 Yes, you won't even notice this Barcelona half marathon! Nearly 13 associations and 650 volunteers will be on your path 👏, throughout the course. They will animate no less than 24 stands to encourage you to the beat of Barcelona 💃.
Well, and after all this, what's the plan? Because yes, running the 21 km of Barcelona is great, but you might as well enjoy it to explore the city! 😌 Among the must-sees, we can only recommend discovering the Sagrada Família, the famous Gaudí basilica, the Park Güell, a remarkable place blending architecture and nature, or the Port Olímpic anchor ⚓️ and its beaches 🏖️. Of course, you can't leave the Catalan capital without tasting its culinary specialties 😋.
Don’t forget your running shoes and get ready for landing! 👟
21.0975 km… That's what's waiting for you if you embark on the Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks! 🇪🇸 But not just any 21 km 😜. 21 km of pure bliss, through the beautiful ciudad of Barcelona, on a flat course 📏, perfect for a speed challenge 🚀.
After a start (and finish) in front of the Parc de la Ciutadella, you'll set off to explore the city 🏙️ and some of its most beautiful historic monuments: the Christopher Columbus column, the Plaça de Espanya, and the Arc de Triomphe 😍. You will also pass near the Plaça de Catalunya and the Sagrada Família and stride along the largest avenues of Barcelona: Avenida del Paralelo, Avenida del Litoral, and Avenida Diagonal. Your last kilometers will be bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and cheered by supporters 📣 and volunteers who came out in numbers for the occasion!
After the effort, the comfort 😌. Swimming, cocktails, and tapas will be on the agenda! Vamos! 🏃♀️
