Port, starboard, Côtes-d'Armor!

Come on, discover this beautiful Breton department now! ⛵️ Located in the north of the Brittany region, the Côtes-d'Armor offers you superb races on the customs trail, the famous GR34. Up there, the wind is a constant, a refreshing breeze that gives character to the coast 😄. This little breeze might remind you of the port of Lézardrieux, which charmed artists like the photographer Robert Doisneau. For culture 🧐, the term "Armor" is a Breton name meaning "on the sea". This word is the origin of Armorica, the Celtic name for Brittany 🍀, and it attests to the region's indissoluble link with the ocean 🌊.

Welcome to the Fantastic Four of the West! Indeed, Côtes-d'Armor can boast of having 4 of the most beautiful coasts in the world, and we're not being biased, no no: the Emerald Coast, the Pink Granite Coast, the Goëlo Coast, and the Gorse Coast. It's not the French Riviera, but here at least, you can get a tan without being packed like sardines! 🐟

This region, north of Brittany, is a splendid land of storms and ocean, dotted with mythical places like the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, the Seven Islands, or Ploumanac'h. Here, the landscapes change faster than Brittany's weather ☔️. Besides, as Nolwenn Leroy might say (or not), “When the sun rises, the rain will stop!” So take advantage of the “bright spells” because if you love walking, you'll have a blast! The GR34, spanning from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire 🥾, is the best way to test your motivation. The good news is that this trail follows the coast, so if you’re not feeling it, you can always turn back.

The art of light

And to feed your Instagram stories, don’t miss Cap Fréhel ! Its 70-meter high cliffs offer you a majestic and colorful sunrise leading to Fort La Latte 🏰, a splendid medieval site! If you’re more into sunsets 🌅, head to the Caroual Beach at Erquy for a show on the orange sand, with a superb view of Cap d'Erquy 🌊. And for romance, why not stroll in the evening in Dinan? This characterful medieval city is a perfect place for a sunset 🌞. The air is invigorating… Enough to fall in love and set course for Pontrieux, the little Breton Venice 🖤.

Looking for other spots? 🤩 The Bretons have the secret for sunrises that will make you forget your coffee. The Lac de Guerlédan is a peaceful place, ideal for early morning light by the water. At Mean Ruz Lighthouse in Perros-Guirec 💡, the early morning light is so beautiful you’d swear the rocks have changed color. And if you want a real out-of-time experience, a paddle session at Les Rosaires in Plérin to see the sunrise over the sea is the thing to boast about at the coffee machine ☕️.

The runner's (and foodie's) paradise

The department offers beautiful trails 👟, like those of Glazig and Guerlédan, the race Between Dunes and Pilings, or the Corrida (without bulls, don’t worry) in Langueux ⚡️. The cities of Saint-Brieuc, Lannion, Plérin, or Lamballe are perfect for urban trails. Wait, we almost forgot the essentials! We have amazing races to offer you, but you mustn't delay signing up as soon as sales open. To mention just a few of the most famous: the Landes and Heather trail in Erquy, the 20 km of the Blue Ribbon, or the unmissable Menestrail in Moncontour! If you love the triple effort, you can participate in the Triathlon of the Sands and CAP in Frehel, go for it!

To train, feel free to head to the Bréhat Archipelago (a place that will make you see life in pink, literally) or the Lac de Guerlédan. And if you still have energy, take the Cliff Route from Paimpol to Tréveneuc, passing by the coasts of Plouha. It's the perfect spot to work on elevation and see all sorts of colors (literally!). Along the way, you might spot the local stars offshore, the seals and dolphins! 🐬

And after the effort, the comfort!

Head straight to the Sailor Songs Festival in Paimpol to get in the mood, and don’t forget to taste the traditional galette-saucisse 🥞 (a Breton institution) or the delicious scallops from Côtes-d'Armor 🐚. Because running is great, but indulging afterward is even better! 😋

Should it rain or snow
