The event in a few words

In Les Abrets, people look for shelter, not adrenaline. Too bad! 🔥 In late January, Abrénaline takes over the town center of Abrets-en-Dauphiné, in Isère, in the heart of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 45 minutes from Grenoble and a little over an hour from Lyon 🚗. Weather-wise, the Northern Alps serve up an à la carte menu in January: biting cold, drizzle, or clear skies—the decision comes at the last minute 🧤. Bring gloves, a beanie, and a headlamp—always on board for this road race at night.

The start is launched under an arch set up on Rue Gambetta, facing the town hall 🏛️. The 2.5 km loop then winds along the asphalt of this city race, brushing past the church ⛪ and linking Rue Jules Ferry, Rue du Colombier, Rue Bayard, Rue de la Contessière, Rue Jacques Novel, Rue Stendhal and Rue Albert Camus. The street signs create a literary stroll: Bayard, a Dauphiné knight, then Stendhal, a child of Grenoble, and finally Albert Camus 📚. As for the profile, the elevation gain remains to be confirmed in an area the organizers describe as rolling. Roads are closed to traffic, so you can stride out down the middle of the roadway, headlamp fixed 🔦.

Born in 2026 at the initiative of the municipality, this young “corrida” banks on four loops of 2.5 km: the crowd sees you pass, pass again, then pass again 👀. On the start line, capes mix with glitter thanks to the costume contest 🦸. Solo or a four-person relay, everyone finds their format, and the team challenge offers one more excuse to bring coworkers, your club, or family 🤝. The kids’ races kick off the evening on a separate circuit, from kids’ athletics to U16 🧸. Chip timing, closed roads, finish-line refreshments: Abrénaline, run by the municipality, takes care of the details of a running race designed for all levels 🥇.

After the finish, the Dauphiné takes over on the pleasure side. gratin dauphinois 🥔 refuels the legs, while Grenoble walnuts 🥜 crunch between your teeth. The town’s coat of arms shows two crossed weaver’s shuttles and a dolphin 🐬: shuttles were being passed from hand to hand long before the first relay 🧵. For recovery, the Chemin de Soie offers a 3 km route dedicated to the town’s textile history 🪡. The Domaine des Fauves, in Fitilieu, releases its predators in the beautiful season 🦁: in late January, the zoo is surely hibernating, so keep the idea for a return in spring.

Four loops later, one thing is clear: in Les Abrets, no one heads home sheltered from adrenaline 💥.

5 reasons to join this race

A nighttime 10K right in the heart of town 🌙
Four nighttime loops through the streets of a real town center, roads closed from end to end 🌃. You take over the roadway without crossing a single exhaust pipe 🚦, headlamp strapped to your forehead. Rue Bayard becomes a one-night track 🎪.
A real costume contest 🎭
Capes, glitter, or a dolphin costume: the start line turns into a January carnival 🪩. The contest rewards the most creative, funniest, or boldest outfits 🏆, whether you’re here for the time or for a good laugh 🤣.
Four times under the arch 🔁
The 2.5 km loop brings you back four times in front of the town hall, so four times in front of the spectators ⏱️. Your family sees you pass without having to chase you, your club fine-tunes its cheers each lap 📣, and you can gauge your pacing loop after loop 🎯.
A four-person relay, high-five included 🙌
Each relay runner downs a 2.5 km loop, then a high-five and the bib handover send the next runner into the dedicated zone 🎽. With coworkers, friends, or family, the 10K is cut into four bites 🍰, and the team challenge adds a ranking based on the cumulative time 📊.
The kids run before you 👶
Early in the evening, from kids’ athletics to U16, children loop around the block of Rue Gambetta, Rue Jules Ferry, Rue du Colombier and Rue Bayard, on their own circuit 👟. You cheer them on, they cheer you on in return, and the whole family spends the evening on the same square 🏅.

A few more words

The 10 km is split into four loops of 2.5 km, and the start line comes back around each lap. You set off from Rue Gambetta, run along the church, then head onto Rue Bayard, a long straight section 🧭. The loop then joins Rue Stendhal and Rue Albert Camus, with an optional detour via Rue de la Contessière and Rue Jacques Novel 🏘️. Street corners follow one after another (Jules Ferry, Colombier, Contessière, Jacques Novel) and call for repeated accelerations. On the fourth lap, the final swing brings you one last time under the arch, then into the finishing chute, away from the loop, all the way to the refreshments reserved for participants 🥤. The headlamp remains mandatory from the first to the last lap.
