In Saint-Fuscien, every trail runner takes the right path 🛣️.
It's in Saint-Fuscien, a small French commune located south of Amiens, in the department of the Somme, in the Hauts-de-France region, that the Trail of Saint-Fuscien takes place at the beginning of April. Since 2016, more than 650 enthusiasts have started each year on this lovely trail morning, 100% nature 🍃. To celebrate the arrival of good weather, it might be the first weekend you'll be able to put back on your trail shoes 👟. The communes of Saint-Fuscien and Amiens UC Athlétisme have crafted a menu starter – main course – dessert, just for you 😅. The starter is a "Petite Véronique" on a bed of 8 km. The main course is a "Véronique's Ramble" in a 16 km papillote. And for the most greedy, the famous "Grande Véronique" chocolate 24 km. We hope our Trail Saint-Fuscien menu suits you because we find it very appetizing 😋.
« You told me I was meant for a strange trail... 🎶 »
The 1st edition took place in the snow ❄️, the 2nd under a magnificent sun… ☀️ For this 8th edition, we don't know what this small Picard village will have in store for you 😂. This year you won't risk freezing in this small Picard village, made up of charming red-brick houses and a magnificent neo-Romanesque church ⛪. Celtic 🍀 and not Romantic will be the musical atmosphere 🎵 of this morning, prioritizing good humor and friendliness. You're a real trail runner, you appreciate nature and beautiful landscapes... So you should rejoice in the beautiful plains around Saint-Fuscien, Dury or Sains-en-Amiénois. Depending on the chosen course, you can count on a light atmosphere, much like your strides. In a walk or die trail 🏃 format with a taste of country stroll 🍄 for the 8 km where a contest for the best costume is organized 👻. "Véronique's Ramble" 16 km is to be completed (without any tricks) in experienced trailer mode. As we love for this type of exercise, the course will reserve many hills and long uphill false flats in dirt path, in plain or undergrowth 🪵 mode. For the most seasoned trailers 🏅, the 24 km "Grande Véronique" Trail is a very demanding course, including 285m D+, with a beautiful final that we’ll leave you to discover.
But why all these "Véronique" in the course names? The name comes from the 1st edition's finish, which was at the foot of Saint-Fuscien's Résidence Véronique. The finish 🏁 currently takes place at Quartier du Petit Marry (I'm talking about you because, with your little voice…🎵) where drink 🥤 and finisher t-shirt 👕 will be offered to you. Whether you have a leg in a cast or outdated Covid-19, you have no excuses not to join us at this event where the excitement grows larger and larger each year 😉.
Little Venice of the North 🛶
Yes, the commune of Saint-Fuscien is just a few kilometers south 🧭 of the prefecture of the Somme, Amiens. The historic capital of Picardy, where you can "Run La Jules Vernes" in June and one of the most difficult races in France 🇫🇷, the 100 km and the marathon of the Somme in October. Regarding heritage, in 1835, Victor Hugo 📜 wrote to his wife "Here I am now in Amiens whose cathedral will occupy me all day, it's a marvel". We can't sell it to you better than that 😅. Amiens has a special relationship with French writers ✍️ because the city houses the Cirque 🎪 and the "House with a Tower" where Jules Verne lived for 18 years. In terms of gastronomy and still in the form of a menu, let yourself be tempted by the leek pie as a starter, the Picard string as a main, and the battue cake for dessert 🍰.
We've given so many good reasons, that in Somme, you have no choice but to join us! 😃
