Do you think Belle-Île en Trail lives up to its name? 😊 You can't imagine the stunning panoramas you're going to admire... Between the sea, beaches, cliffs, and trails, you won't know where to look 😎. But on what occasion exactly? Degemer mat a Belle-île en Mer! 🛟 Embark on a journey to this island in southern Brittany 🏝️. Guaranteed escape! Created for the tenth anniversary of the Erika oil spill, Belle-Île en Trail highlights the island's natural environment 🌿. Every other year, this event located south of Quiberon in the Morbihan brings together many trail enthusiasts 🏃♀️. You'll discover in September the insular culture of this seaside race without summer tourists, "it's pure bliss "!
Wondering what the program for your weekend cut off from the world (well, okay, we're exaggerating, it's only a 45-minute crossing...) will be like? 🚣♂️ Well, imagine you're embarking on a Grand Insular Raid, a journey to the center of the earth the island 🗺️. Your adventure on the Belle-Île en Trail can be done over 5 different distances: 11 km, 19 km, 32 km 45 km and the island tour of 81 km 🤯. Get ready to be challenged by the elevation. Reaching up to 2,000 mD+ 💪, you will be constantly climbing and descending, the course will not let you rest 🧗. However, the advantage of running on coastal paths is that you forget about your burning thighs! 🦵 And guess what... the course between the north and south of the island is very varied. You'll tread the wild coast, the sandy beaches of the island, and the stone cliffs marked by the tides 🌊. Enhanced by nature, as you pass through the lands of Belle-Île ⛰️, you'll walk through small villages such as Locmaria, Bangor, or Sauzon. Let us know if you find the island beautiful! 😅 If you want more information about this great event, which we could talk about for hours 🕦, feel free to take a look here 😉.
This magnificent nature race will allow you to quickly explore Belle-Île so don’t hesitate to have a closer look at the unique rocks of the Port-Coton Needles (painted by Mr. Picasso 🎨) or the Grand Phare. After satisfying your eyes, it’s your stomach’s turn! 🧈 You wouldn’t leave without tasting a superb seafood platter 🦪. Even if it usually comes with white wine 🥂, you absolutely have to try the local beer "La Morgat" 🍺; it's always better with music (alcohol consumption is dangerous for your health, always consume in moderation).
Are you ready to run the trails of Belle-Île en Trail ?
The 81 km course is very simple. With more than 2000 m D+, you will circle Belle-Île! 🏝️ You will start from the town of Le Palais, and embark on a true adventure! You will first head towards Pointe de Kerdonis, then to Skeul! Next, you will tackle the Aiguilles de Port Coton and even pass by the Airport (which you wouldn't have landed at...) ✈️. In the second part of the race, you will go through Pointe de Poulains, then to Fort de la pointe du Cardinal (and yes, it's technical)! 👀 Your last encounter will be with Pointe de Taillefer.
If you've made it to the end, hats off to you, artist! 🎽
For the 45 km, it will be a bit less challenging than the 81 km! 👌 But you'll still have 1000 m D+, we're splitting 🔪 the difference! 🍐 You'll also start from the Palais, but you'll just do half of the island tour! You'll go to the Pointe de Kerdonis, then to the Skeul to then head to the Grand Village, where you'll change route to pass through Bangor, before returning to the Palais! 👏
For the 32 km, you will still have 800 m D+ ! You will also start from the Palace, but you will only do half a tour of the island! You will go up to the Pointe du Bugul at the 6th km, then to Pouldon and then head to the Pointe du Grand Village, where you will change your route to pass through Bangor, before returning to the Palace! 👏
For the 19 km, you'll embark on 200 mD+! You'll also start from the Palais, head to the Pointe de Bugul, and then venture a bit inland before returning to the Palais! 👏
For the 11 km, you will embark on a 150 mD+! You will also start from the Palais, head to the Pointe de Gros Rocher, then go a bit inland before returning to the Palais! 👏
