But why is this race called Green? 🤔 Here's a little culture point for you! 🧠 Mr. Green is an Australian runner 🦘 who was so captivated by the beautiful Ottoman houses and views of the mountains of Berat that he forgot he was in a race 😅. Halfway through, he stopped to take a selfie 🤳 but was overtaken by a local 70-year-old who shouted, "Run now, take photos later!" Laughing, he picked up the pace, determined not to be outdone by a retiree 😂. At the finish line, he admitted, "Berat is the only half marathon where you risk losing due to sightseeing!" 🗺️
So after your performance 🏅, don't miss the chance to dive into the cultural richness of the region 📍. After crossing the finish line, explore the beauties of Berat, known as "the city of a thousand windows" for its picturesque houses and breathtaking scenery! 🥰 You can explore the ancient citadel of Kalaja, stroll through the historic district of Mangalem 🏙️, or admire the churches and mosques ⛪ that tell the history of this fascinating city 🕌. If you want to extend your adventure 🧭, a one-hour trip will take you to the beautiful Tomorr National Park 🌿, perfect for hiking and picnics in nature.
