The event in a few words

Looking to push yourself? Molto bene! But wouldn't it be even better if we could combine the useful with the pleasant? That's what the Chianti Ultra Trail offers with its 5 competition races in an exceptional setting. Next March, you'll have the opportunity to take a dip into Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น with a unique race that combines physical efforts andโ€ฆ wine tastings๐Ÿ˜.

The Chianti Trail is held annually in March in the Chianti region, which you must surely know if you're an enthusiast! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Known for being one of the world's best wines, Chianti was born in Tuscany, a region as beautiful as it is ancient ๐ŸŒ„. Yes, the birth of the village of Radda In Chianti and its wine dates back to around -2000 BC! Enough to fill your eyes ๐Ÿ‘€, legs, and tongue during this race that takes you to the historic castle in the neighboring village ๐Ÿฐ. Although wine is undeniably highlighted in this competition, you unfortunately won't have the chance to drink it at the refreshment points. Sorry, we tried! ๐Ÿ˜… However, you'll have plenty of time to become a connoisseur at the many activities the organizers have set up ๐Ÿฅณ. On the agenda: cultural and tasting activities from Friday to Sunday with visits to the castle of Brolio and the sensory museum, tastings, tours, and dinners in the Castello di Albola cellars and the Casa Chianti Classico, all accompanied by expert sommeliers, oenologists, and growers ๐Ÿท. You'll have the opportunity to visit the most beautiful grape varieties and vineyards you may have missed during the Chianti Ultra Trail and its 5 races of 120 km, 75 km, 46 km 21 km, and 10 km.

But enough about wine, let's get to the heart of the matter! All races will start from the Piazza Francesco Ferrucci. For the anecdote, this name is that of the famous Florentine soldier F. Ferrucci, who fought and sacrificed for his country and now has the honor of having his name mentioned in the Italian national anthem ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Plan for the headlamp for the Ultra Trail Chianti Castles because it starts at night ๐ŸŒ™. Throughout the 120 km of this race, you'll have the chance to cross the village of Radda In Chianti and glimpse its enclosing wall and medieval constructions, located at 503m elevation. With approximately 5,200 m elevation gain, the UTCC will require you to pace your efforts and bring warm clothing ๐Ÿ”ฅ. You'll face an average temperature of 5ยฐC at night and 14ยฐC by day, all under a good sun (we're still close to the Mediterranean ๐Ÿ˜‰). You'll then enjoy trekking the mountain paths of Monticulo, smelling its olive groves ๐Ÿซ’, and admiring the beautiful vineyards of the Chianti domain and Monte San Michel. After overcoming the elevations of the Tuscan hills, you'll ultimately reach the Chianti Storico castle and return in a loop to the starting village. There, you can satisfy your hunger and quench your dry throat with a well-deserved meal ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ.

The Ultra Trail Chianti which is 75 km will also make your mouth water ๐Ÿคค. With 3,100 m elevation gain and 5 refreshment points, effort and the CTU go hand in hand with the Tuscan landscapes ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ. The dawn departure ๐ŸŒ… will let you benefit from milder temperatures and warm up watching the morning dew vanish on vine leaves ๐Ÿ‡. You'll also explore the fabulous territory of Chianti Storico and its gentle hills, ending with the Chianti Fiorentino and Chianti Senese territories. Tell us if you see any differences, since this area was long disputed between Siena and Florence! And if you're a more modest runner (but no less worthy ๐Ÿ’ช), the Chianti Marathon Trail (46 km) is for you! ๐Ÿซต You'll start once the day is up to zigzag among the vines, the trails of the region, and its over 2,000 m elevation. If you're a trail half-marathoner at heart from the Chianti Path (21 km), you'll tread the track to the village of Vertine embraced by the sun's warmth, the scent of aromatics, and the song of cicadas! ๐ŸŽถ Finally, for the short distance enthusiasts, the Chianti Wine Run will take you through 10 km and 400 mD+ south of Radda in Chianti

Once the event is over, nothing stops you from continuing the sensory and cultural journey by visiting the city of Firenze just 1h10 by road ๐Ÿš—. There, let yourself be carried away by its exceptional monuments classified as UNESCO World Heritage. A major figure in the art world of the Renaissance, the city of Florence is the eighth most populated in Italy and considered one of the most beautiful in the world ๐ŸŒ.

So ready to make your cuore beat? โค๏ธ This event will make it beat as much as its landscapes! ๐Ÿคฉ

4 reasons to join this race

A wide range of races ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ
In addition to the 120 km long-distance Ultra Trail offered to you, you can also choose to head towards the Chianti Trail Ultra of 75km, 46 km or the 21km half-marathon. In any case, you will taste the same flavor as the others since all starts are from the same Piazza (not pizza ๐Ÿ˜‰). Additionally, for each race, a specially crafted itinerary is available to help you discover the richness of the region and its landscapes while maintaining a certain level of effort. But it's worth it because you'll fill your eyes, lungs, and taste buds!
Wine is the star of the event ๐Ÿท
Speaking of taste buds, have you ever thought that as a good French person, you need to improve your wine knowledge? Who has never found themselves lost in supermarket aisles, cursing themselves for being such a poor connoisseur? That's over! Now you can impress your guests because you'll have received insights from the best, with one of the greatest wines in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Isn't life beautiful?
The 'Dolce Vita' ๐Ÿ˜Ž
You're coming to sweat, run, push yourself, and you'll be infinitely rewarded! You'll have the opportunity to experience this Italian art of living with relaxation, sun, good wine, and good food. Why not take the time left to taste the REAL Pasta Alla Carbonara? (And we're not talking about that counterfeit version with mushrooms). Pasta, pizza... In the end, it doesn't matter, you'll have earned it! ๐Ÿ˜‹
Activities that immerse you in History ๐Ÿ“œ
If you're passionate about the Roman Empire, Antiquity, and medieval constructions, this stay is for you! With a race taking place in an ancient fortified village that was contested between Siena and Florence for several centuries, you couldn't dream of a better way to immerse yourself in Italy's past. With its cobbled streets, old stones, churches, and Etruscan monuments, you'll have the chance to discover the architectural and historical changes of The Boot ๐Ÿ‘ข.
