Imagine a postcard from Italy: pastel houses, tranquil canals, little restaurants where you enjoy tagliatelle on the terrace, a glass of wine in hand... Welcome to Peschiera del Garda, jewel of the Verona region, bordered by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Garda💦. The place is so charming you might think it’s a relaxing getaway... Monumental mistake ❌. For if you come here in September, it’s not to lounge in the sun 🌞. You come to suffer for a very, very long time, to participate in the world’s greatest endurance test 🌍: the Deca Ultra Triathlon.
Want to swim, pedal, and run until you go crazy? 🤪 This is the place 📍. We guarantee that at the end, you won’t even know the order of your organs. And you have your choice of poison 😈: Firstly, there's the classic format, meaning you complete your triathlon in one day. Otherwise, there's the "daily" format, meaning one full triathlon per day, for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 consecutive days 🥵. As for the distances, it's 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, and 42.195 km running, no less. And if you don’t want to take on three disciplines, don’t worry, the organization has thought of you: you can also do 60 marathons in 60 days. Or just 50, or 40, or 30… depending on your level of craziness (and your budget 💸). And the time limit to complete your marathons is... 24 hours! ⏰ So you have the whole day to manage your effort and accumulated fatigue 🥱. On the course, the organization tops it off with a 50-meter pool, a 5 km cycling circuit, and a 1 km running loop 🔄. Yes, we confirm, it’s hell 😬. You sleep in an equipped campsite next to the Signorelli sports area, surrounded by athletes as crazy as you, and you start again every day at 8 AM sharp, like a joyful summer camp for major sports enthusiasts 😎.
And if you want something even more grandiose, you can aim for other formats: deca continuous, double deca, quintuple, triple deca, quadruple deca... The distances are so unreal it seems like they were imagined by an overexcited child 🫨: the courses go up to 152 km swimming, 7,200 km biking, and 1,688 km running, over the number of days you choose (up to 60). And we’re not talking about relays here, it’s you against your brain screaming to stop 🧠. Oh, and for those who like round numbers, there’s also the “What is your limit?” format: 1,000, 1,600, 2,000, 5,000, or 5,500 km on foot, to be completed in 60 days max also ⚡️. You wake up, you run, you sleep (and dream that you’re running 🛌). In short, it's not a race against others, it's a battle with yourself ⚔️.
So yes, Peschiera del Garda is a dream setting 😍. But this time, it’s a waking dream where the nightmare is the distance. So, are you ready to discover your limits?
