The event in a few words

When we talk about the desert 🏜️, you think of taking your pair of slippers in your suitcase, right? 🥿 Well, this time, you will be able to swap these comfortable sandals for a good pair of sneakers!

Yes, vacations are great, but sports challenges are even better! And when participating in the Dune Desert Marathon, more precisely, when you have the chance to know the Wild Marathon, you can combine both! 🤩 For this destination, we suggest you settle down in Morocco 🇲🇦, in Merzouga, a charming village in the heart of the desert of Drâa-Tafilalet. The challenge, you can choose: it's simple, three distances are offered: a marathon, a half-marathon, and a 10 km. Each has 90% road running, mostly on the hamada, a rocky plateau elevated from desert areas, and 10% running on sand dunes 🏝️. Obviously, the sandy parts are a bit more challenging, but don't worry, the route passes through areas that remain flat. Proof of this is the 42 km with only 125 mD+! 💪 We know the temperatures might concern you, but the organization has done its best to choose a period with mild weather. You'll traverse the desert between 11 and 24 degrees! 🌡️ Still, you need to be equipped! We advise adding to your runner's attire a good cap 🧢, sunglasses, good shoes ready to cover kilometers, and overshoes to avoid ending up with sandy feet! 🦶

Running is great, but the folklore of this race also presents itself through other activities. Let us explain the program: Once you step off the plane, like a star, you will be picked up at the Errachidia ✈️ airport and taken to a 4-star hotel in Erfoud! ⭐ The next day, after a good breakfast (which you won't tire of during the stay), you will go with other runners to do a course reconnaissance 🔎 (should it have disappeared)! Upon return, a good stretching session awaits you, to keep in shape 🧘‍♀️. Then, it's not you who will work, but rather the camels that will take you to the haima camp 🐫 (a kind of Oasis) where you’ll spend the night! 🌌 The third day is D-day! You will start one of the races you've carefully chosen! After this great effort (which is the heart of the event), the organization will offer you a delicious meal 🥘 (at least as good as all the others you've consumed) in a beautiful desert hotel, before going to celebrate the award ceremony! 🏅 We assume the evening won't be late, as you'll need to recover for the next day's activity! Well, it isn't as physical, but just as emotionally rich... how about a little 4x4 desert tour? Lucky you! A final perfect experience before heading back! Yes, the next day, you'll be taken back to the airport with a head full of memories and great stories to tell once back home! 😍

Too nostalgic and want the event to repeat? 😉 No problem, but a few elements will change! The organization of the great race you're about to participate in is part of a series called Wild Marathon 🤠. Altogether, there are 6 worldwide. If you enjoyed the experience, you can always register for 5 other of their events. You can go to Peru, to run the Inca Marathon near the Machu Picchu in the world of the Incas! 🇵🇪 Change of scenery, why not focus on Finland? 🇫🇮 At the Arctic Marathon, with some luck, you could even visit the famous home of Santa Claus! Or you can go to the Yeti Marathon, in Nepal 🇳🇵, in the iconic Annapurna Park, a place coveted by so many climbers each year. Prefer warmth? Then head to Tanzania for the Kilimasai Marathon 🇹🇿, in a postcard landscape, featuring as a special guest: the Kilimanjaro! There's one left, the Maya Marathon in Mexico! 🇲🇽 As its name suggests, you'll have the opportunity to visit Mayan ruins on the paradisiacal island of Cozumel! ⚓

Well, while you finalize this exceptional plan, we have time to take a little vacation! 🏖️ We're eager to see your smile after the Dune Desert Marathon of Morocco! 🌅
