Our cycling enthusiasts at Finishers are getting curious about running! 🚴♀️ To keep them entertained, we're introducing a new road cycling event that will rival the best out there! So, come along, bike lovers 🧑🔧, today we're talking about the Grandonfo Serra da Estrela in Portugal! 🇵🇹 Starting from Manteigas, you'll ride through Seia, reach the iconic Torre 🤩, and then head back to Manteigas. Get ready to tackle the Granfondo, 154 km of pure cycling bliss 😍, featuring 4,200 meters of elevation gain. Yes, you read that right: 4,200 meters. That's like climbing the Eiffel Tower four times, but without an elevator 🫣. If you prefer something less intense, the Mediofondo offers 102 km and 2,800 meters of elevation 💪. A piece of cake, if your idea of a "piece of cake" includes some uphill battles 👀. This is the 10th edition this year, so you can trust their organization! 👌 The Granfondo Serra da Estrela takes you through the heart of the natural park of the same name, the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal ❤️🔥. Not for the faint-hearted!
This event also features a 5.3 km foot tour with 270m elevation gain! 🚶♀️ But we know most are here for the cycling! 🚵♀️ No worries for the less experienced; you can ride at your own pace—the timing is just to add a bit of spice 😈. Remember, wearing a helmet is mandatory, roads are open to traffic ⚠️, and road rules must be followed. Otherwise, it's goodbye or rather, off the road you go. If you want to spend some time in the District of Guarda, the natural pools of Loriga 🏞️ are a true haven of peace to recharge after the competition. And why not take a stroll in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park 🌳? If you participated, you'll already have a taste, but now we're talking about a real walk where you can TRULY enjoy it! 🤗

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
For the Granfondo distance, participants must be 19 years or older on race day.
For the Mediofondo distance, participants must be 17 years or older on race day.
Athletes must cross the finish line by 5:30 PM.
1st PERIOD (06/30/2024 – 12/31/2024): €44 for licensed athletes / €49 for unlicensed athletes.
2nd PERIOD (01/01/2025 – 05/31/2025): €49 for licensed athletes / €54 for unlicensed athletes.
3rd PERIOD (06/01/2023 – 06/22/2025): €54 for licensed athletes / €59 for unlicensed athletes.
Seven refreshment points are scheduled along the course.
