Don’t confuse the Netherlands with the Basque Country! 🧭
Swing a leg over your two-wheeler—the roads and trails of the Basque Country are yours! 😉 To become the hero of the GravelMan Series Basque Country, you’ll need to book the second weekend of June 📆. Yes, yes—your whole weekend. You’ll quickly understand why 🤫. But first, let’s whet your appetite by setting the scene: steep cliffs 🌊 and wild mountains 🌋, sunshine and ideal temperatures 🌞, the sea and loads of lakes, and above all, plenty of kilometers and elevation gain 😝.
GravelMan Series is taking you on one hell of an adventure where speed, technique, and contemplation will all be part of the ride... But how many kilometers? You’ve got 5 events to choose from, to be ridden on a road bike or a gravel bike (man): 60 km and 1,000 mD+, 120 km and 2,000 mD+, 200 km and 2,500 mD+, 350 km and 4,500 mD+ and finally the weekend’s big boss: 500 km and 6,500 mD+. Now you’re starting to see why we told you to block off two days 😅. The biggest events will take you well over 24 hours! So you’ll need to prepare your epic because you’re riding self-supported: just you and your bike 🚲. On your journey, whether it’s short or long, strewn with rocks or covered in asphalt, you’ll ride along winding roads through the mountains, climb the local slopes, and dive into the valleys that open onto lush plains 🌿 on one side and the Atlantic coast on the other 🤩. The rally point will be the same for everyone: Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle 🤪.
Now that you’ve mastered the art of gravel (man) 🤓, why not get your legs (slightly sore 🦵) working again to explore the other activities? 🔍 Head to Bordeaux to enjoy the beach and sunshine, tan peacefully, and recover from your effort! 🏖️ If you want to discover Basque culture, treat yourself to a dive into the city of Bayonne 📍. As well as learning more about the region, you’ll be able to refuel properly: Bayonne ham 🐽, Espelette pepper 🌶️, Ossau-Iraty cheese 🧀, or even a slice of Basque cake for dessert... 😋 You’ll probably have eyes bigger than your stomach 😂.
Hands on the bars, ready, ride! The GravelMan Series Netherlands is waiting for your next adventure 💪.
