The Kamogawa Ecomarathon will take you off the beaten path in the month of January ๐.
Located in Kyoto, in Japan ๐ฏ๐ต, the event offers you 3 races that are accessible to both beginners and experienced runners here for a time trial โฑ๏ธ. The course is flat, easy, and fast ๐โโ๏ธ. You will run through the Kamogawa River Park and follow its course throughout your run. You can choose between a half marathon, a 10 km, and a parent-child race ๐งโ๐งโ๐งโ๐ง, accessible to children under 15. No matter which race you choose, you will start at 11 a.m. sharp ๐. With races limited to a total of 300 participants, you wonโt have to worry about being overcrowded at the start ๐.
With several other sporting events organized, particularly in the prefectures of Saitama, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Kumamoto (but mainly in Tokyo ๐ธ) the Ecomarathon positions itself as an organization environmentally conscious ๐ณ and committed to various causes ๐๏ธ. During registration, it is possible to opt for a donation instead of a fee to the associated charity. This year, donations will go to the "Second Harvest Japan" and the "International Refugee Assistance Association" which create programs for welcoming refugees from all over the world ๐.
Kyoto is often perceived as the cultural and spiritual heart of Japan ๐. This former capital is now famous for its numerous Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, traditional gardens, imperial palaces, and well-preserved wooden houses. If you're visiting, you might have the opportunity to attend the famous tea ceremony ๐ต.
If youโre planning a traditional visit, the Fushimi Inari Shrine is a must-see! โฉ๏ธ It is the main shrine of the goddess Inari, the deity of grains, foundries, and commerce, and guardian of homes. A staple of Japan is, without a doubt, the Onsen. These traditional Japanese baths are very popular among locals! ๐โโ๏ธ
