Light On Tri Madine
One Light, Two On, Three Tri, let’s go! Head to the Meuse for the Light On Tri de Madine, the new must-attend event for triathletes in the Grand-Est region... and maybe soon for you too! 😉 We’ll meet at the end of September in Nonsard-Lamarche, between Metz and Nancy, for an incredible triathlon with nearly a thousand participants annually 🔥. Needless to say, it’s going to be competitive at the starting line! 💪 Come on, make your choice... Whether it's the S format or M format, there’s something for everyone. We've even heard rumors 🦻 that the L format is making a grand comeback !
Nestled in Lorraine, the race starts at Lake of Madine 🏁, an 11 km2 artificial lake that serves as a biodiversity reserve 🦆, and is also the largest lake in the region 💧. Quite impressive 😮. This area is perfect for outdoor sports with its hilly paths, the Côtes de Meuse, meadows 🌼, and woodlands 🪵. Everything’s in place for a sporting experience full of challenges! ⚡️ Don’t forget your sunglasses 😎, not just because you’ll shine (which we’re sure you will), but because there’s a good chance the sun will make an appearance for our enjoyment... 🌞 Yes, at this time of year, an Indian summer is guaranteed! Temperatures will hover around 20°C, though the water might be a bit chilly 🥶, so wearing a neoprene wetsuit is highly recommended! ⚠️ Conditions that are quite pleasant "all nice and snug" as our friends from the Grand-Est say, for a weekend of great sport and sharing! 😍
And if you're the tireless type 🤪, with energy to spare, explore the surroundings. You won’t be disappointed! 🤫 Just a few kilometers from Nonsard-Lamarche, the Montsec's Butte is a solitary hill offering a spectacular panoramic view 👀 of the entire Woëvre plain and Lake of Madine, making it a favorite spot for hikers with its 360° natural vista 🏞️. For a slightly more cultural visit 🤓, head to Vent des forêts 🌳, a preserved natural site where natural beauty and contemporary art meet over 45 km of trails 🚶♂️➡️. But don’t worry, we’ve also considered your taste buds... 😋 After all that exercise 🚴♀️, it's normal for your stomach to grumble. Luckily, the Grand-Est region is rich in exceptional dishes! Enjoy yourself in the land of pâté and quiche lorraine 🥧. Awaken your taste buds with the unique flavor of local truffles, and end with a sweet note 🍭 with madeleines from Commercy, the famous madeleines (of Proust) that inspired Marcel... *drum roll 🥁* Proust (unsurprisingly)! 🙂↕️
So, are you charmed by the allure of the Grand-Est? The Light On Tri de Madine 🏊 triathlon is waiting just for you! 🫵
What's on the agenda? Dive headfirst into the lake 🙂↕️ for two loops 🔁 of 950 m 🏊♂️, followed by a quick Australian exit to speed up the transition and get a strong start! 🏁 Then, you move on to 85 km on a bike course split into two loops of 42.5 km 🚴♂️. Expect moderate climbs that will require you to manage your pace 🫵. There's a bit of elevation, but nothing too daunting, don’t worry! 😉 For dessert, 21 km in three loops around the lake 🏃♂️. The terrain alternates between gravel sections and flora 🌿, ensuring you give it your all right up to the last meter... ⚡️
We dive right in 🏊 with two loops 🔁 of 750 m, making a total of 1.5 km in the calm waters of Lac de Madine 💧. Adding a touch of excitement 🤪, there's an Australian exit 🇦🇺 for a quick transition! On the cycling side 🚲, you'll ride a hilly loop with 400 m of elevation gain 🚵♂️, alternating between fast sections and moderate climbs on the local roads, offering you a chance to explore the region 🤩. Finish with the run, consisting of two mostly flat loops around the lake, with gravel and grass sections 🌿, and some bursts to test your legs! 🦵
This demanding course combines technique, effort management, and strategy in a uniquely natural setting! 😍
Dive straight into the deep end 🏊♂️ with a unique 500 m loop in the calm waters of Lake Madine 💧. No fuss, it's an Australian exit 🇦🇺 for a quick transition! 🚀 Then, take on 20 km of cycling 🚴♂️, spread over two loops of 10 km, with an elevation gain of 130 m. The course is flat, perfect for stretching out and testing your speed. 🏁 Finally, finish with 5 km of running 🏃♂️, on a mixed terrain course around the lake ! 💨
