Your next race ๐๏ธ will take place on an island. When we say Malta, what do you think of? Party ๐? Well, no, wrong! We're here to tell you about the famous Malta Marathon ๐ค.
Created in 1986, it is one of the oldest in Europe, just that! For its 41st edition, the organizer offers you 3 events: the famous marathon of 42.195 km, the semi-marathon of 21.097 km, and finally a walkathon ๐ถโโ๏ธ. The latter follows the semi-marathon course; you'll start at the same time, but you'll have a bit more time to finish the race. You can choose to walk (obviously), but also run. The idea is to offer a less competitive event ๐ that remains challenging! ๐ช This city-to-city race starts from the old capital, Mdina, and ends in Sliema ๐.
This race will not only challenge you but also allow you to enjoy the beauty of this Mediterranean island by running along the seaside ๐, under a sunny sky ๐ with rather mild temperatures for February February โ๏ธ. Starting in Mdina, you'll embark on a race full of culture and history. Indeed, the city, nicknamed the "Silent City" ๐คซ, is a historic city located in the country's center. Malta's former capital is known for its quiet ambiance, calm streets, and timeless atmosphere ๐.
If you still have energy after victoriously crossing the finish line ๐, head to the capital to dance all night ๐ชฉ. Known for its lively nightlife, Valletta hosts numerous festivals throughout the year ๐. If you fancy quiet walks, head to Rabat, a neighboring city of Mdina, ideal for family strolls ๐ช. If you don't feel like wandering around and come out completely exhausted from your race, enjoy relaxing on the beaches of Golden Bay: one of the most beautiful beaches in Malta, perfect for resting after the effort ๐๏ธ and just a few minutes away by car ๐.
So, ready to take on the challenge and live an unforgettable experience? ๐ Sign up now and savor every stride in this exceptional setting! ๐
You will start from Mdina, outside the bastions of the former capital of Malta. You will then cross the main road of Rabat, descend through Nigret to reach Ta'Qali ๐ค. You will continue for 5 km before reaching Attard and then Mosta. Once you have crossed the town, you will return to Ta'Qali and back to Attard again. Once you exit this loop, you will follow the old aqueducts from Mriehel to Birkirkara, then go around Mriehel. You will then continue your journey to Triq Dicembru, followed by Blata L-Bajda. From here, you will have just 5 small km left. You will follow the waterfront ๐ of Sa' Maison, Pieta, Msida, Ta' Xbiex, and Gzira until you reach the finish at Sliema ๐.
