Here’s a race as rhythmic as British pop! 🥁
Right in the middle of April, when the nice weather starts to show its face, the legendary city of Manchester—a true industrial and cultural jewel of the United Kingdom—welcomes you for an epic challenge ⚡️. We hope you’re ready, because you’re about to take on one of the most iconic events in European running: the Adidas Manchester Marathon 😎. Officially recognized as the second-largest marathon in the UK and the fourth in Europe 😨, this incredible event has brought together athletes from all over the world since 1908 ⏳. The numbers have literally exploded with a record number of registrants, and the excitement promises to be even more stratospheric going forward, with no fewer than 52,000 participants expected on the start line 🏁.
This 42.195 km city route is designed both for world elites chasing records and for runners who thought this dream was totally out of reach 🤗. Spoiler: NOTHING is out of reach 🤪. If you still doubt your abilities or want to share the effort with your loved ones, this marathon can be done as a relay 👯. Okay, we may have scared you, but don’t worry: the course is especially fast 💨. One of this event’s biggest strengths lies in its ultra-flat profile, making it the perfect playground to chase a personal best, as they say in English ☕️. You’ll pass through the neighborhoods of Stretford, Sale, Altrincham, Timperley and Chorlton-cum-Hardy before turning toward the final apotheosis located near the city center.
Running in Manchester is above all about living an extraordinary human and charitable adventure 🫶. The marathon proudly partners with five major national charities for which you can raise funds: Alzheimer’s Society to support families and research, the British Heart Foundation which funds the fight against cardiovascular disease, Cancer Research UK dedicated to cancer research, Mind which fights every day for mental health, and The Christie Charity which works to provide care for cancer patients 💛. Carried by this cause and by the incredible presence of more than 150,000 supporters packed along the barriers, the famous marathon wall will be just a distant memory 💭. To keep you in shape, 26 musical entertainment points await you at every street corner 🪩. No time to get tired! ❌ You’ll have to run, dance, sing, and keep the tempo (in every sense of the word 🥁).
Once the final sprint is done and you’ve picked up your superb finisher medal, no way are you leaving the land of Liam and Noel Gallagher without celebrating properly! Manchester’s city center is full of typical pubs and lively neighborhoods where you can recharge with a good traditional meal. Explore the Science and Industry Museum for an immersion in the region’s fascinating industrial history 🏭. If you’re a football fan, take a trip to the Old Trafford Stadium, home of the legendary Manchester United ⚽. It’s the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to a memorable city trip, relive the race on a terrace, and savor that well-deserved moment of collective euphoria after such a sporting feat 🍻.
You’ll sign up for the performance and stay for the atmosphere, promise! 🥳
