The event in a few words

This year on New Year's Eve ๐ŸŽ„, put away the cutlery and take out the sneakers, we're setting the table for one of the most beautiful races of the year ๐Ÿ’ซ.

At the end of December, just days before New Year's Eve, the beautiful city of Porto opens its doors for a festive and illuminated race: the Lidl S.Silvestre Cidade do Porto (or Saint-Sylvestre of Porto in French) ๐Ÿ’ก. The second largest city in Portugal invites you to wander through its cobbled and colorful streets across two nocturnal timed routes โฑ๏ธ. It's probably your last chance to achieve the resolutions you've been postponing all year, so don't miss it ๐Ÿ˜‰. Plus, it will be your excuse to eat with twice the appetite during the many upcoming holiday meals ๐Ÿ‘€. Don't leave this page, and prepare your mind ๐Ÿง , we'll give you all our tips so you can prepare calmly โฌ‡๏ธ.

First of all, two routes have been set up by the organizers: one for the walkers and the other for the seasoned runners ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ. If you're more thirsty for timing than for Porto wine ๐Ÿท, the 10 km will suit you without a doubt. The route includes many turns ๐Ÿ”„, so you'll have to keep pushing yourself. No zoning out allowed, focus is crucial here ๐ŸŽฏ. Beware of the level of competitors, some come from afar to perform. Porto is a big city that attracts a crowd ๐ŸŒŽ: last year, almost 10,000 people lined up on the Avenida dos Aliados, waiting for the starting signal ๐Ÿšจ. You'll need to train hard, the time to beat is 30'01" if you wish to leave with the trophy ๐Ÿ†. On the other hand, if running is not your thing, you can still register for the walk. The 5 km traverse the entire city and will let you discover the historical buildings ๐Ÿ›๏ธ gently. An active or peaceful walk, it's your choice! ๐Ÿ‘

Once you cross the finish line ๐Ÿ, you can continue the adventure by exploring the city and its surroundings: urban tours, beaches, or natural parks ๐ŸŒณ, you're sure to find your happiness ๐Ÿฅน. Enthusiasts of history and culture ๐Ÿ“š will be thrilled crossing Ribeira District, the Dom Luis I Bridge ๐ŸŒ‰, and the Porto Cathedral. These iconic sites have marked the city and minds over several generations. Maybe you'll do the same with your sporting performance? ๐Ÿ˜Œ Going to Porto is also an opportunity to sample Portuguese culinary specialties, and they are not scarce ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น. The Queijada, the Francesinha, and of course the famous Port wine will introduce you to new flavors during this Christmas period ๐ŸŽ….

So in December, say goodbye to your old resolutions, and come set your new goals beginning with performing at the Saint-Sylvestre of Porto! ๐Ÿ’จ
