The event in a few words

« Running is good, but never, ever, will running compete with soccer ⚽️, rugby 🏉, or basketball 🏀. The atmosphere of soccer matches, the team spirit of basketball, the friendliness of the third half after a rugby match, is a pleasure that no runner will ever touch ».

Well, we've all heard this speech at least once… And, it's true, running is (in theory) an individual sport 🏃‍♂️. But, have you ever heard of Run Mate, a race whose atmosphere surpasses by far that of basketball, soccer and even rugby (yes, yes)! « Okay, the atmosphere must be pretty good! But the team spirit found in soccer, basketball or rugby, we will never find that in an event related to running! ». Well, yes! As incredible as it may seem, the Run Mate By Core Lean manages to combine team spirit, atmosphere, and conviviality! 🎉

Held at the end of September in Switzerland 🇨🇭, the Run Mate By Core Lean is a team road race! 💪 For this 7th edition, you must choose between 2 and 9 teammates to circle Lake Geneva in relay and complete 215 km and 2,500 meters of positive elevation! 🧗🏻‍♀️ So, let's say you'll need to hold on tight! The team spirit will definitely be present!

For those unfamiliar with Switzerland, Lake Geneva is a crescent-shaped lake straddling France and Switzerland, crossed by the Rhône from Montreux in the east to Geneva in the west. The course begins and ends in Montreux. Weather-wise, in September, it is rather cool in the region. Temperatures generally range from 10°C to 17°C! 🥶

The course involves circling the magnificent Lake Geneva, totaling 215 km to cover! You will need to divide the 26 segments (each between 4 and 15 km) among yourselves to define your relay points to complete the race. It's up to you (and your team) to develop a strategy to run these 215 km as quickly as possible! 💨

During your journey, you'll get to see the stunning landscapes offered by Lake Geneva 💧, the largest freshwater lake in Europe 🇪🇺. You will have the privilege of admiring this incredible lake for 2 full days and 1 night 🌛... A true bridge between France 🇫🇷 and Switzerland 🇨🇭. Lake Geneva borders the Haute-Savoie department in France and the three Swiss cantons of Geneva, Vaud, and Valais.

The race starts in team format at Montreux 🎶. Then, you will head towards Lausanne, Geneva, Évian, and Villeneuve. Then, you will return to where it all started, in Montreux, where many spectators will cheer you on to the finish line 🏁. Along your journey, you'll have the chance to admire more than twenty castles 🏰, including the Château de Montagny, the Château de Chillon, and the Château de St-Gingolph... The list goes on, but rest assured, it provides a good excuse to stop, take in the scenery, and catch your breath! 😍

During this event, many teams run to support organizations or causes that are dear to them. This event gathers a lot of groups of friends, families, and colleagues. Moreover, some teams love to run in costumes! 🥳

Few people know, but several noteworthy figures lived along the shores of Lake Geneva: Charlie Chaplin 🎩, Voltaire 🖌️, Jean-Jacques Rousseau… That's a lot of people! It's true, but it's no coincidence so many artists lived there! 🎨 Lake Geneva is an ultra-inspiring place! And if you decide to participate in Run Mate with your team, we recommend visiting the quays of Montreux. The panorama there is extraordinary, there are sculptures 🗿, and there's always something happening: markets, food trucks, music! We also recommend trying the specialties of the Canton of Vaud: perch fillets, tartare of féra, leman cheese beignets of Vinzel 🧀… All accompanied by a Chasselas, the region's emblematic white wine! 🍷 (Always to be consumed in moderation).

So, are you ready to assemble your Dream Team to conquer this challenging race? 🥵
