Ahhhh, Tuscany... its gentle hills, vineyards as far as the eye can see, its olive groves...😍
...But that’s after you’ve completed Run the Tuscany Island 😈. The Tuscany of cypresses comes later! You’re going to dive into the Tuscan Archipelago National Park for a multi-day 📆 adventure. It’s simply the largest marine park in Europe, and you’ll have the privilege of setting foot on three of its pearls in just three days 3️⃣. This island-to-island island expedition takes place in September, right when the sun starts to soften but the water still feels like a Caribbean lagoon 🏝️.
The first stage takes place on Elba Island, in Marina di Campo 🐟. Picture the vibe: night falls, the stars come out, and you set off from Piazza Dante Alighieri📍. It’s an about 11 km urban race at night. You’ll run along the seafront, cross the lit-up historic center, and head toward the harbor ⚓️. The course winds its way to La Foce, known for its enchanting gardens 🌳. Barely recovered from your nighttime thrills, you’ll switch radically to a new setting for stage 2 🤪. You leave urban comfort behind for an about 13 km trail on the island of Capraia 🌞. It’s the only volcanic island around, and trust us, it has a strong personality! After a boat crossing, you’ll land on wild terrain for an immersive trail along the seaside 🌊. If the weather is kind, the trails offer vertigo-inducing panoramas over Corsica 😍. To round out this triptych, it’s on to the island of Pianosa (by boat again 🚤). It’s the hidden jewel, a nature reserve within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park 🌱. Running there is a rare privilege 👆. For this third stage, you can choose between 11 km or 17 km on gravel-type terrain (the perfect mix between road and trail 🥾). The atmosphere is surreal: you pass through the remains of the former penal colony, surrounded by dazzling white cliffs and perfectly turquoise water 💦. And for those who want even more, an about 8.5 km panoramic hike is offered on Elba Island 🚶. It’s a guided immersion into the heart of the wildest Mediterranean scrubland. You’ll discover spectacular views over the islands of Giglio, Pianosa and Montecristo⛰️. It’s the famous rock said to have sheltered Abbé Faria’s treasure, from the book by Alexandre Dumas 🏴☠️. You’ll even pass by the beach of Fonza, a major historical site where the Allies landed in June 1944 during Operation Brassard ⚓. It’s after this walk, alone or accompanied, that the awards ceremony will take place 🏆.
Good to know: you don’t have to do the full tour—you can choose to do only one or two stages! 💡The route is also offered on foot, with about 5 km per stage 😎.
And after crossing the final finish line, what do you do? 🤔 The answer is simple: enjoy! Go for a bit of relaxation with an artisanal gelato in Portoferraio, a visit to Villa dei Mulini (Napoleon’s home 🐴), or a well-deserved dip at Spiaggia delle Ghiaie 🏊. You can also climb up to Forte Stella to admire the view over Portoferraio 👁️. That’s the spirit of the Tuscany Island Running Tour: run, eat, rest, and tan 👙. And who knows—you might even run into Pierre Niney filming The Count of Monte Cristo 2 🤫.
Isle better hurry up and grab your bib! 🐙
This circuit combines stages 1, 2 and 3! 🔄

Running on the island of Pianosa is a privilege because it is a fully protected nature reserve 🌱. The route is gravel, so it’s very fast and pleasant 🥾. You’ll pass through the former penal colony, a setting steeped in history that gives the event a mythical feel 😍. Between the white cliffs and the turquoise water, you’ll feel like you’re running on a Caribbean island. This course is offered over 11 or 17 km 🤗.
