The event in a few words

Grab your passport and get ready to heat up your running shoes at the end of the world! 🌍

Set course for the archipelago of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French overseas collectivity nestled south of the island of Newfoundland. It’s here, on the wild island of Miquelon-Langlade, that every year in June the big local running event takes place: the legendary 25 km of Miquelon. Forget the stress of the Paris metro—here, you run in the fresh air 🍃, lulled by the North Atlantic. Created in 1984, this out-of-the-ordinary event has become an unmissable international event. The atmosphere is unique, blending performance and conviviality 🎉. The course crosses the sandy isthmus linking the two islands 🏝️, offering an exceptional wild setting. You’ll share the field with enthusiasts from Europe, Canada and beyond. Local riders and their horses sometimes escort runners along the route 🐎. Some even take on the challenge on a unicycle, which tells you just how total the spirit of freedom is! 🤪

Whether you choose to line up solo to cover the distance or opt for the two-person relay option 👯‍♀️, you’ll have an allotted time of four hours to cross the finish line, whether running or walking 🚶. The overall profile is very runnable, ideal for opening up your stride—provided you can tame the whims of the sea wind 💨 and the famous sandy section that reminds you nature rules here 👑. Smiles are everywhere, and the locals’ welcome turns this sporting event into a true human adventure 🥰.

Once you’ve crossed the line and your legs feel heavy, the day is far from over ☝️. After the effort comes the reward in the archipelago! 😎 The awards ceremony kicks off the festivities in the sports hall of the Maison des Loisirs, or right in the village square if the sun is out ☀️. It’s time to celebrate every finisher before heading under the big marquee for the traditional, gargantuan méchoui 🍽️. This mythical meal brings together hundreds of guests in a high-energy atmosphere. You’ll enjoy more than a hundred perfectly roasted legs of lamb, accompanied by the traditional friendship punch and bottles of red wine to keep athletes hydrated. Warning: alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health and should be consumed in moderation ⚠️. Local music groups—Acadian or from mainland France—turn up the heat and keep the dancefloor buzzing until the end of the night 🪩. The next morning, after defying the laws of fatigue in the village dance hall, you’ll realize that staying on your feet all night may have been an even harder challenge than the kilometers covered the day before 🤪.

Miquelon, all the way! ➡️
