Cycling in the heart of Provence 💜, Vin Diou you’re already dreaming about it! Save your month of March, and prepare your bike 🚲 for an amazing outing. Montélimar offers you conviviality, pleasure, and athleticism 💪, all in a single event. With a busy weekend 🗓️, Saturday will be about discovery, nature, and pleasure with your best Gravel 🧘. As for Sunday, the competitors will be out 🔥 for cyclosportives listed on the calendars of the FFC (French Cycling Federation) and the Gold Label Trophy 🏆. The goal of this race: to have maximum enjoyment 💖 on these beautiful French country roads 🏞️.
On the agenda: 2 days of racing and 7 different routes traversing Provence 💐. On the first day, head to the southern part 🧭 of the Drôme Provençale, with 3 Gravel hikes. "The Gravel 60" is 67 km long, "The Gravel 80" has 85 km, and "The Gravel 100" totals 104 km ⚡️. These cycling hikes are built in successive loops ♾️, so you can choose your route on the go! 🤠 Handy if a burst of motivation pushes you to the maximum 😉. On Sunday, head north of the city, into the Montilien hinterland, the competition awaits you 💥. With some modifications 👀 compared to previous editions, we present the 4 organized routes. We warn you, these are not Sunday strolls 🚶 on the agenda... "The Montilienne" is the only non-competitive ❌ one, with its 60 km open to hikers 😌. Come on, cyclosportive riders it's your moment: "The Sesame" with 93 km 🙊, "The Gobik" going all out over 125 km, and to finish "The Corima", the longest at 156 km: you need to be prepared! 😳 Careful, the region offers you magnificent landscapes 😍, sure, but it also hides its challenges well! Remember, there's a lot of uphill and downhill! 📈 For all races, you will have an elevation gain ranging from 500 mD+ to 2,248 mD+ for the toughest one 🥵. You understand that your training needs to be up to par!
As you can see, the region that welcomes you is worth the visit. Montélimar is: lavender gardens 🪻, a splendid castle, nougat, and a great atmosphere... 🎊 Everything you need to be happy with the trip. And around it, the same, with the villages of Marsanne, Châteauneuf du Rhône, Valaurie, … We won't list them all 📋, but depending on your route, you can take a look 🫣, otherwise, a tip: go see them more closely because these villages are worth it! 🤩 An out of the ordinary activity? The crocodile farm 🐊 sounds good, so dive into a transatlantic journey 🌊 for a visit. And, as we say here, admiring is good, but eating is often better 😝. Those who agree with this new saying will be delighted 🍜. Montélimar rhymes with nougat, even if it doesn't sound like it to the ear, the two go hand in hand 👯. Made with love and patience, save room to taste this delight. Fans of truffle 🍄🟫, are you there? BINGO! The region's black gold is abundantly harvested in this area, with ideal soil for its growth 🌾.
Explorer, competitor, adventurer, or sprinter 🚀, everyone is invited to kick off the cycling season, you have a rendezvous at the gateway to Provence to pedal hard 💨.
We start on Sunday, with the first race of the day, and not just any race! 🫡 On the agenda: 156 km and 2,248 m of elevation gain, enough to really stretch your legs 🍗.
For this route, the start will obviously be in Montélimar 📍, heading towards the northeast of the town. We'll start gently with a route that climbs gradually, where you'll discover lots of typical hamlets and villages 🏘️: Saint-Marcel-lès-Sauzet at km 5, Arentieu at km 11, or Marsanne at km 14. Now, let's get serious 🧐, after all that, we'll head south with a steep pass. From km 43, the Col de la Sausse is in sight 🔍, with 4 km at 4% to reach the top. Don't worry, a good refreshment will await you at Bouvières to keep you going!
We start the recovery with a nice descent 📉, but be careful as the passes will continue to follow and after taking a stroll in the Gorges de Trente Pas, the Col de Valouse at km 83 will be in your sights 🎯. After that, a new refreshment will await you to regain strength, at Vesc. No long rest ⏱️, you'll immediately tackle the Col de Vesc at km 99, then you'll have a nice descent on the Col du Pertuis ✨. The last pass, before heading back, will be the Col de Deves at km 130.
Just a bit more energy, it's almost over! 💪 Returning to your starting path, you'll head back towards Montélimar where you will take the descent of Tartaiguilles and cross again the village of Marsanne, Condillac and Savasse 😍. 156 km in the legs, it's time to reach Saint-Lazare street with brilliance 🏁.
Following in the footsteps of the "Corima", your course is almost identical! 😉 A slightly shorter course of 125 km and 1,700 mD+, you'll earn your bragging rights! 🌞
With an identical start: the Col de Tartaiguille at km 16, passing alongside the Col de la Chaudière and refueling at Bouvières 🍫, a little twist at km 61. You'll change routes at Crupies and instead of going straight, you'll head directly towards Vesc 🔄 and its pass, with its 3 km at 5%. Then the beautiful village of Rochebaudin will welcome you for your second refuel 🍏, before the descent of the Col de Pertuis. After recharging your energy, we'll tackle the end of the course with the Col de Deves, at km 99 ⚡️.
Finally, back on your tracks, head towards Montélimar, to celebrate this beautiful route ✨.
Third race in competition, for this course, 93 km and 1,330 mD+ 📈 are planned.
Just like the "Gobik" and the "Corima", your start will be at Montélimar 📍, before heading to Marsanne. Then, the Col de Tartaiguille will start to heat up your thighs 🔥. At Soyans, at the 40 km mark, the paths will diverge. You'll take the Col de Lunel to reach Rochebaudin, with a good supply stop 😋. From there, you'll follow in the champions' footsteps and the course becomes similar 🪞 to the others: the Col de Deves will be on your route, and onward to Montélimar.
Arrival at Saint-Lazare street, with applause for sure! 👏
A beautiful hike that follows the codes of cyclosportives 🔥 with a more accessible route and elevation. No joke either, 60 km and 570 mD+ ! 🤪
The only common point is the start, heading north from Montélimar and at km 6, it's the change 🔁. At Sauzet, we change direction, heading east ➡️. A wonderful visit awaits you in the heart of the Andrans Plain, a historical place that saw some traffic during the Second World War 💣. After crossing the Roubion watercourse three times 💦 and passing through Charols, you'll join the other routes 💪. You will arrive in a beautiful village, Manas, where your path will continue following the trails of the other three races ("La Corima", "La Gobik", and "La Sésame") ✨.
If you are motivated and feel like taking on a challenge, you can climb the Col du Deves ⚡️, with its 4 km at 4.5%. Otherwise, we'll stick to the plan, and you continue on the marked race route 🚴, where you will gently reach Marsanne. You will finish your journey passing through Savasse, before celebrating this end of the race at Montélimar! 🎉
100 km, it's not nothing, and yet that's what awaits you, with an additional 1,400 mD+! Nice weekend hike that 🤪.
With a route towards the southern part of Montélimar, beautiful passages through the villages await you 🤩. Starting with your first kilometers, a small initial climb will appear near the old village of Allan at km 12, for about 200 mD+. Then, what goes up must come down, so here we go for a nice descent to reach the typical village of Valaurie 🤌. A place filled with lavender fields 🪻, wheat, and vines, but especially a good refreshment 😉. Here the paths split, and you will follow in the footsteps of the "Gravel 80", towards Chantemerle-lès-Grignan. Watch out for the GPS ⚠️, change of route upon arrival in this town, you're going EVEN further south! Promise, you won't end up in Marseille though 🤣.
A descent to Saint-Restitut awaits you, for a beautiful village visit 🥰. A little less pretty, in front of you, a tiny hill, which can reach 20% in places... 🫠 Yes, yes you'll need to hold on to complete this course, but we already know you can do it! 😜 Keep the faith, because at Garde Adhémar, the refreshment at Val de Nymphe will help you regain strength! 🍏 After passing above the Berre watercourse, you will resume the heading towards the finish line 🏁, with a passage through the Drôme forests and the village of Malataverne. Towards the end, you should recognize the surroundings, as you will cross the road you took at the start 😀.
FINISH! Take a deep breath, the beautiful hike is over and a good refreshment awaits you! 🔥
Embark on a beautiful hike, the Gravel 80, a 85 km route with 1,170 mD+, yes we said hike, not vacation! 🤪
