The event in a few words
Are you looking for your last cycling event before putting your bike away for the winter? ❄️ Then in September, hop on your trusty steed 🐎 and challenge yourself on the mountain passes of the Imperial Cyclosport in Laffrey! As you climb the mountains of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 📍 and pedal through the forests of Isère 🌲, you'll be awestruck by the beauty gifted by Mother Nature 🌿. Despite the challenging inclines you'll need to endure 📈, which will test your legs, the scenic views of the surrounding valleys will surely reward your effort! 💪 You'll need to give it your all in this race as it's the final one in the challenge of the Cyclo d'Isère. After tackling the courses of La Thierry-Claveyrolat and of La Grenobloise, the Imperial will be the ultimate challenge to stand out in the overall rankings! 🏆
But what exactly does the challenge entail? 🤔 This cycling event offers three distances to suit every rider's pedal power 🤓: the "Rando" at 50 km with 1,250 m elevation gain for those wanting to enjoy the scenery in an un-timed setting ⏱️, the "Mediofondo" of 93 km with 1,950 m elevation, or the "Granfondo" of 150 km with 3,900 m elevation for those aiming to reach the level of Pogaçar! 🚴 Whichever route you choose, you'll be treated to breathtaking landscapes between majestic mountains ⛰️, natural lakes 🏞️, and stunning viewpoints 🤯. You'll discover the Col d’Ornon and the Col de Sarenne, the summit ⬆️ of the entire challenge for the brave souls taking on the "Granfondo"! 🏅 On the "Mediofondo", you'll navigate the balconies of the Matheysin plateau and then tackle the climb of Col de Malissol 🚵♂️. Yes, you'll have to ascend to meet the elevation gain promised at the start! 😅 The routes conclude with the climb of Laffrey, offering a finale worthy of the greatest alpine challenges 😎. It's almost like being on the Tour de France Stage, right? 😝
Once you've crossed the finish line 🏁, why not extend your adventure by exploring the area's treasures? Less than an hour's drive 🚗 away, you can marvel at the famous Bastille of Grenoble which offers a spectacular panoramic view 🤩. Interested in a bit of history? The Vizille Castle and its Museum of the French Revolution are must-sees 🏰. For nature lovers, the Lake Monteynard is perfect for a family outing 👨👩👧👦 or a romantic picnic by the water. Looking for some thrills? Try the wobbly Himalayan footbridges that span the lake for a unique experience! 🤩
