The event in a few words

It is often said of the Eagle that it is one of the most majestic animals present on our planet 🦅. With a tenacious, voracious, and elegant nature, it is an incredible predator, always on the lookout for its prey. Majestic? Just like the Trail of Gouvieux, created by the association “Eagles of Gouvieux” 😍. As the first running event of the commune, the eaglets wanted to contribute to the growth of the discipline by highlighting the remarkable places of the territory. This trail nature and planet-friendly will allow you to discover all the nooks and crannies of the commune of Gouvieux and its surroundings, in the south of the Oise department 🌳. At such an affordable price (10€ and 15€), why hesitate? 😏

The meeting is therefore given in the commune of Gouvieux, less than an hour's drive from Paris, in the Hauts-de-France. In March, the temperatures will be ideal for running in the best conditions, with a program of spring-like mildness accompanied by sun ☀️. Well, we admit, in the north we're never safe from a little rain, so bring your raincoat and boots, just in case 🌧. On the program of the Trail of Gouvieux, two timed races open to people aged 16 and over, with distances accessible for all levels: 9 km and 15 km with 150 meters of positive elevation gain. 👌

And since we know you're wondering what the course will offer, we'll detail it for you right away. The organizers have set up two trails combining self-improvement, sport, friendliness, but above all, nature and discovery of the commune and its surroundings 😊. After your start at the Gouvieux Gymnasium, your first strides will be on Oise roads that will take you to the Étang of Toutevoie, where you can take a dip in case of overheating (although not necessarily advised 😅). The wildlife you may encounter is very rich, and you might cross paths with a Goldeneye or a Goosander 🦆. The challenge of the day is none other than the ascent of Mount Jules Caesar, which peaks at 138 meters altitude. Legend says that Caesar himself loved running on these hills 😉. Lovers of speleology will be thrilled to admire the troglodyte houses district, which today houses artisans' craft workshops 🏺. The beauty of these houses, seemingly straight out of a cave, will literally take your breath away. Before your return to Gouvieux, you will discover the village of Toutevoie, and you will have the opportunity to run in peace on the banks of the Oise. 🏃‍♂️

Valiant as you are, we're sure you'll still have a bit of energy left to learn more about the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the region. You will notably be able to visit the Musée Condé, in Chantilly where you will marvel at works signed by Delacroix, Botticelli, Poussin, or Raphael 🖼. The museum boasts the largest collection of pre-1850 paintings, behind .... The Louvre! Just that 😱. Finally, to delight your taste buds enjoy a Ficelle Picarde with for dessert, the famous Picantins from Compiègne, these delicacies made with chocolate and nougatine. 😋

So if you want to take flight, come participate in the Trail of Gouvieux! 😎

4 reasons to join this race

🏰 A rich cultural heritage
Accompanying persons and runners coming from afar will be delighted to discover two magnificent castles, both located near the race site 🏯. First, you can visit the Château de Chantilly, built in the 19th century by Honoré Daumet, along with its magnificent gardens that stretch as far as the eye can see 🌳. Then, a short trip to the Château de Montvillargenne is a must, initially owned by the Rothschild family. Built in 1911, it is now a luxury hotel and one of the jewels of Gouvieux 💎. Another historical monument to visit is the Royaumont Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery, dating back to 1235. As you can see, it's a real immersion into the cultural heritage of the region that you can experience before, during, and after your race! 😍
🏺 The troglodyte village
Located a few steps from the commune of Gouvieux, this village with about fifteen houses carved into the rock will allow you to discover real furnished caves 🤩. Perched at the top of the village, the Impasse des Carrières is still inhabited by some Godvicians today, and some have even made it an art workshop 🖼. It includes pottery, ceramics, mosaics, and even an art enameller. The Association of Winemakers has also used one of these houses to establish its headquarters 🍷. With a bit of luck, you might be able to enter and see these magnificent houses from the inside. 😉
👍 A friendly and human-sized race
The two proposed courses allow all types of trail runners to set off on the Trail of Gouvieux 😀. Whether you are a beginner wanting to complete your first organized race or an experienced trail runner with several events under your belt, the 8 kilometers or 15 kilometers on the program will allow you to find the right fit 🏃‍♂️. Here, you won't encounter the thousands of runners you might find at other races. In Gouvieux, we advocate tranquility, mutual aid, and friendliness to experience a real reconnection with nature and History.
♻️ A commitment to the planet
In Gouvieux, we find an organization that understands current environmental issues and uses them to make the event a race committed to protecting the planet 🌍. Limiting waste, recycling, respecting the spaces traversed, it's within this approach that the Trail of Gouvieux is set 👌. And pushing one's limits while committing to the planet, isn't that beautiful? 😜
