The event in a few words

A few kilometres to the south of Cahors in the Lot, the town of Montat is ready to be taken over for a very lively weekend for the Ultra Trail des Fontaines ⛲️, a name given in reference to the symbolic fountains of Cahors. Multiple distances are offered to satisfy your cravings : trail of 7 km, 14 km, 33 km, 44 km (in relay or solo), 69 km, 105 km, Nordic walking (7 km or 14 km hikes the day before the ultra races, to treat yourself without pushing too hard 🔥), kids’ races 👶🏼, canitrail and canimarche over 14 km, a night race of 14 km, a night hike of 7 km🌛 … In short, there’ll be something for everyone, and all levels above all 😎 ! Whatever distance you choose, you’ll be immersed in the hills and valleys of the Quercy limestone plateau. ⛰

With more or less elevation gain 📈 depending on the event (4,000 mD+ for the 105 km!), it’s a fairly technical and demanding route that will stand before you. It’s made up of more than 90% paths and singletrack (narrow trails) opened for the occasion. The proposed circuits invite you to take single tracks through the woods and dry-stone walls typical of the Causses du Quercy. Your turn to play pass the - wall low wall ! 😏

The panorama at the top of Mont Saint-Cyr will offer you a breathtaking view over Cahors and its surroundings… Guaranteed happiness ! 🤩 However, if altitude isn’t your strong suit, don’t worry—you’ll have the chance to catch your breath 🌬️ on the lands of Cieurac. And in particular through the vineyards 🍇 of Château de Haute-Serre 🏰, one of the oldest wine-growing châteaux in Cahors 🍷. The red wine produced there is largely made from malbec, the key grape variety of the famous Cahors AOC, and it pairs very well with Quercy truffles or even red meats 🥩… Makes you want to, in any case, for after the race! 😋

If you’re not K-hors technique, back on the Montat side after the race, you can enjoy a good cheese soup accompanied by a nice cold beer to unwind and regain your strength… A multitude of activities will be organised during the race weekend and between fireworks 🎇 and a lively meal, you’ll be well served in the land of good living ! 🍻

4 reasons to join this race

A wide variety of routes 🎇
At the Ultra Trail des Fontaines in Montat, you’ll find such a dense selection of routes, short or long, that you can come back for the next 10 years without getting bored and still discover new trails 😅. 15 ways to take part, 15 ways to have fun!
The nighttime atmosphere 🔦
Make sure you pack your headlamp in your sports bag. Even if the start is by torchlight, you’ll quickly find yourself in the darkness of the Occitan forest 🌳. A 7 km hike if you want to discover the joys of trails, or a 14 km route to get your legs burning to the rhythm of piercing hoots—it's up to you to choose your challenge 🦉.
Canines in the spotlight 🐶
"Woof, woof, this race is so cool"—that’s probably what your four-legged friend will be thinking 🐾. If your most faithful running buddy is a lovely furry beast, you can come with them and encourage them (or let yourself be pulled along) on 14 km routes to do walking or running 🏃.
A unique landscape 😍
Vines, fountains, gariottes, dry-stone walls typical of the region and even a castle will watch you strut along the trails. Keep your head held high and your chest up—you’ll enjoy the scenery around you even more 🤪.
