The event in a few words

If you feel the urge to tackle some elevation without traveling 500 km from home or rolling in the mud, the Hérouville-Saint-Clair Urban Trail might just charm you 🥰.

In the month of May, when summer begins to show its face and your only dilemma becomes choosing between a floral T-shirt or a sleeveless shirt 👔, the small town of Hérouville-Saint-Claire decides to organize its local urban trail 🏙️. For the occasion, the temperature is usually optimal, with the sun out and a north wind blowing between the city buildings. But that weekend, the real breeze will likely be the one left by your passage 💨. During 10 or 15 km, depending on the distance you choose, you'll tour the bourgade Calvadosienne. The contrast between the heritage of Domaine de Beauregard and the futurism of the Conservatoire de Musique will make you feel like you're journeying somewhere between the Renaissance and the year 2050 🛸. So if you want your performance to also stand the test of time, pay attention to what follows 👀.

For this first edition, the organizers let you choose between two options: a 10 km and 100 mD+ or a 15 km and 150 mD+ 🫵. In both cases, you'll encounter: beautiful buildings, a well-preserved castle and quite a bit of pavement. However, each race has its own identity 🪪. The "Beauregard express", of 10 km will allow you to have fun while getting your heart rate up 🫀. Not short enough that it's all about power, but too long to rely solely on endurance. Its big sister, the "Grande couronne" of 15 km. But beware, if you want to leave with the gold medal and the title of "King of Hérouville-Saint-Clair" 👑, you'll need to extend your stride and not get absorbed by the surrounding landscapes. And with all the pretty monuments you'll pass and the atmosphere on the course, you'll need mental strength to stay focused 🫨. In Normandy, you're not just covering kilometers: you're pushing yourself, restarting, having fun, but most importantly collecting memories 🏰.

And after the effort, comes comfort! 😴 Less than an hour's drive away, you'll have plenty to keep you busy. The locals have a saying: "In Normandy, you know when you arrive, but you never really know when you leave" (or is it just us at Finishers who say that? 🤔). In any case, the important thing is that the local metropolis of Caen, a few kilometers away, is likely to act as a magnet for you 😋. Having discovered the Château de Beuregard in Renaissance style, you can compare your observations to the Château de Caen, located right in the center of the town. With all the stairs it has, the ramparts, and the size of the building, it will serve as an active recovery 😅. If you're more in search of greenery, after nearly 15 km run in the neighboring town, you can set your GPS for the Jardin des Plantes 🪴, or the Parc de la Colline aux Oiseaux. These two green spaces in Caen are the real green lungs of the city 🫁. In case you really want to take off and get away from any urbanized area, the north of Calvados is all yours 🇫🇷. The beaches of Ouistreham or Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer offer you large gulps of fresh air, with a sea view and gourmet break 🐟.

So, if you're ready to tackle an urban trail with character, aim for the "Grande Couronne" at the start of summer and shake the kingdom of Normandy 👑. It's going to rock, that's-Clair (Saint-Clair) 🪵.

4 reasons to join this race

Accessible courses 🤗
With courses of 100 mD+ and 150 mD+, you can tackle the first muscle aches of your career without overexerting 🫵. You won't finish with 3 kg of mud on each shoe either! This urban trail is the perfect solution to challenge your calves and get a feel for inclines in a familiar environment. No chance of getting lost in dark fir forests 🌲 or twisting an ankle on a hidden root, here your playground will be the city center and its long paved avenues 🏘️.
Become the king of the pavement 👑
Have you always dreamed of ruling your own kingdom? To earn the symbolic title of "King of Hérouville-Saint-Clair," it's going to take more than strong legs; you'll need a steely mindset 🦾. Among monuments and the course's atmosphere, you'll have to stride longer and show that the boss of Calvados is truly you 🥇. The invaders will be numerous, so get ready for an epic battle where each urban turn could turn into a real ambush! 💨
The allure of the Norman coast 🌊
Participating in this race also means treating yourself to a breath of fresh air 🥣. After warming up your legs, you'll be less than an hour away from the iconic beaches of Ouistreham or Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. You can then proceed to the second part of the program (equally interesting as the first 😂): recovery! Between escape and tasting, you'll never want to leave the Norman soil 🫶.
A time travel journey 🏰
Between two strides, you'll go from the historical charm of Domaine de Beauregard to the visionary aspect of the Conservatoire de Musique and its neighborhood 🎼. We guarantee this architectural contrast will make you feel like you're traveling through time 🛸.
