Race Timing in Metz

It’s the question we all ask ourselves: how long does each participant take to complete their race? 🤔 That’s the whole point of timing, which measures the time from start to finish to establish the rankings. Long done with a handheld stopwatch, it is now electronic ⏱️. Chips attached to the bib, shoe, or bike are automatically detected on the ground as athletes pass. In practical terms, this system relies on timing mats equipped with RFID antennas, placed on the ground at the start line, finish line, and intermediate checkpoints: each chip emits a unique frequency captured down to the thousandth of a second, guaranteeing impeccably precise rankings. It’s also thanks to it that we can distinguish official time (calculated from the start signal) from real time, which only starts when you cross the line—very handy when you start at the back of the pack!

Practically speaking, what does that look like?

La 4 Pattes takes the opposite approach 🐾, with an original duo format over 6 km or 12 km (and two parent/child races), where you must cross the finish line together, between ramparts, the banks of the Seille and the Moselle, and a lively riverside tavern vibe— a friendly, charitable event open to all levels.
