The event in a few words

In Belgium ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช, it's not just the beers that are good...the races are too! The Antwerp Marathon gathers nearly 20,000 running enthusiasts in October to tackle the legendary 42.195 km, the half, or the 10 km ๐Ÿƒ. Here, good mood and full relaxation guaranteed! โ˜๏ธ But the carrot ๐Ÿฅ• is much prettier. Upon your arrival, enjoy a complimentary locally brewed beer in Antwerp itself: the De Koninck! ๐Ÿบ

Eager to tread the Olympic soil? ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Yes, the city hosted the 1920 Olympics!) Between the business district and the old town ๐Ÿ™๏ธ, you'll traverse an urban route sketched by the waterfront ๐ŸŒŠ. Antwerp and against all odds, is a cosmopolitan and multicultural city! Close to the Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ, this seaside city โš“๏ธ is so pleasant to run, especially in autumn! ๐Ÿ The sea breeze, and the russet leaves carpeting the cobbled streets, provide an autumnal setting worthy of the most beautiful capitals European ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ and optimal running conditions โšก๏ธ. Did you know that in 2020, at the Antwerp Marathon dozens of thousands of plastic cups ๐Ÿฅค used by runners were recycled โ™ป๏ธ to make tables and chairs? A beautiful committed initiative reflective of the lovely Belgian city! ๐Ÿซถ

After traversing the streets of Antwerp, which will have transported you between Dutch ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ, Belgian ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช and Danish ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ ambiance, you'll need a return to Antwerp roots... ๐Ÿ˜› Head to the fries stand ๐ŸŸ to indulge in Belgian specialties! For a digestive stroll, we've lined up a small program for a champion finisher: Start by visiting Our Lady of Antwerp โ›ช๏ธ and its breathtaking Gothic architecture ๐Ÿ’จ, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Pass through the central station ๐Ÿš‰, one of the most beautiful stations in the world! ๐ŸŒŽ Yeah, that's right ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Finally, end your cultural excursion at the MAS - Museum Aan de Stroom, a ultra-contemporary design museum, to admire some folk artworks nestled by the Bonaparte Basin on the old Port of Antwerp ๐Ÿšข.

And you, are you taking on the Antwerp and against all odds challenge? ๐Ÿ’ฅ

The 42.195 kilometers start at the Limaplein ๐ŸŒณ. After a first loop ๐Ÿ” around the Port of Antwerp, head to the city center via Meir (not to be confused with the sea hahaha) towards the famous Antwerp Central Station ๐Ÿš‰. The route continues clockwise โŒš๏ธ through Zurenborg, the Groen Kwartier and Antwerp South โฌ‡๏ธ, before returning towards Eilandje along the quays ๐ŸŒ. On the road, on the rooooad... ๐ŸŽถ You will enjoy views of iconic places such as the Boerentoren, the Palace of Justice and the new South Park.
