It's not just an ordinary running event we're offering you; it's what one might call "quite an adventure"! ๐ค
Welcome to the Ayni Andean Race, a stage race multisport event in Bolivia ๐ง๐ด that won't leave you without beautiful memories upon your return ๐คฏ. On the agenda: 6 stages, 3 disciplines, 2 regions ๐, and of course, plenty of fun. Let's take off! โ๏ธ For the first stage, you start gently (or not) with 4 km of kayaking ๐ฃโโ๏ธ on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world ๐ฉโ๐ซ. At 3,800 meters above sea level, for once, the landscapes are literally breathtaking ๐ต. For the second stage, you swap the paddle for running shoes. 18 km of trail running ๐โโ๏ธ along the shores of the lake, between trails and panoramic views ๐. Your cardio will hate you, but your eyes will thank you... ๐ You've already reached halfway through your journey, it's time for the third stage, 50 km of MTB ๐ดโโ๏ธ. Expect to pedal through grueling climbs and steep descents; you'll understand why they say Bolivia isn't flat! ๐
For stage 4, head to Salar de Uyuni for 12 km of trail running on the world's largest salt desert ๐. A surreal landscape, white as far as the eye can see. Fifth stage, you're at it again with 40 km of MTB on the salt. A flat but treacherous terrain. Salt sticks, it creaks, and it wears out tires ๐ค. But for the feeling of riding on another planet, it's worth it, right? ๐ Before concluding this beautiful journey, you'll have a well-deserved rest day! ๐ด Transition to the village of Una, at the foot of Illimani โฐ๏ธ. It's an opportunity to recharge batteries and tend to blisters ๐ฉน. Stage 6, the final stretch with 15 km of trail running in the mountains. The scenery is magnificent, Illimani is something! ๐ฅ It's tough, it's beautiful, it's the Ayni Andean Race... On the last day, you celebrate your survival victory at the closing ceremony in the village of Una ๐ณ. Trophies for the best, memories for all! ๐
If you want to enjoy a bit more of Bolivia, head towards La Paz, and discover the Valley of the Moon, with its rock formations. Visit the beautiful Laguna Colorada, known for its spectacular red hues and unique wildlife ๐ซถ, or dive into history by exploring the mysterious site of Tiahuanaco, one of the oldest civilizations in South America! ๐บ๏ธ
So, admit it, you booked your tickets before even finishing reading the text? ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
The first stage of your raid takes place on the crystal-clear waters of Lake Titicaca ๐ถ. You'll embark on a 4 km aquatic experience ๐ฆ, all while exploring the magnificent landscape of Tiquina. It's the same landscape you'll dive headfirst into in the afternoon to conquer 18 km of trail ๐. We admit, it's the first big chunk of this journey, but having just arrived in the territory, you should manage without too many feathers lost ๐.
For the next day, we hope you've thought about working on your glutes before visiting us in Bolivia ๐ง๐ด. The first stage of cycling with its 50 km to cover will keep you on your toes ๐. Once back at the camp, take a deep breath, you've done half the work ๐ช.
The next two days won't be a break: the first consists of a 12 km trail and the second of a new cycling stage offering 40 km of pedaling ๐ฒ. The small advantage? You change your landscape and head toward the Uyuni region ๐. It's promising to be beautiful and warm โ๏ธ.
For the final stage, we'll let you recover from your misadventures and allow you to depart 48 hours later โฑ๏ธ, after your legs have been partially rested ๐ฆต. Last challenge and new region: Una opens its doors (and its dusty paths ๐ชจ) for a 15 km trail. It might seem long, but these are the final efforts, so give it your all ๐.
This course is exactly the same as the individual version course, except here you share the suffering and efforts with two โ๏ธ. If this is your first multi-activity raid over two days, it's already a good start ๐ .
You can pick up your bib the day before the competition, at the hotel where you will be staying.
