The event in a few words

Are you ready for a heroic adventure in the heart of Hamburg? 🤩 The Blankenese Hero Run awaits you in the district of Blankenese, known for the Süllberg towering above the houses and the Unterfeuer Lighthouse 🗼. It's a road race, also known as the Blankenese Hero Run, offering the refreshing riverside experience 💦. Yes, Hamburg is a city built on the banks of the Elbe 🏞️, the grand river that flows through Bohemia. To get straight to the point: you're probably wondering what this race has to offer 🏃‍♂️. If you're visiting Germany 🇩🇪, you have 5 events to choose from: a 6.5 km run where youth and kids can feel like adults! 👧 You’ll run almost 2.5 km along the riverbanks! For a similar distance but more challenging, you can join the 6.8 km run! 🤯 Beware, this distance is fondly referred to as the "Mountain Goat"! 🐐 If you love the burning in your calves, this is your dream race! You could also tackle the 11 km (PS: rumor has it that this is the perfect format for hill sprints)! 💪 The Blankenese Hero Run offers not one but two 21.1 km routes! Half-marathon lovers will rejoice 🤪, but how does one choose! Well, those who prefer a more relaxed pace should opt for the "sutsche" 😇 format, while those eager to shine on hills and surprise climbs can sign up for the "derbe" format 🤠.

Now that we've covered the main topic, let's talk about Hamburg! 🏙️ If you haven't had enough greenery 🌱 (even though the courses run through many parks), you can always head downtown to stroll through the iconic Planten un Blomen Park: a magnificent botanical garden! 🌷 If you're more into culture and wish to add an educational touch to your trip 📚, we recommend visiting the historic Speicherstadt district 📰. Explore the cobblestone streets and historic warehouses of this UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌆. If you want to blend in and shed your tourist identity, the Hamburg Fish Market🐠 is the heart of the city's identity!🐟 Dive into the vibrant atmosphere of this traditional market where you can taste local specialties. We highly recommend the lobster soup 🦐, an iconic Hamburg dish! Need a break? We understand - the season is perfect for a short getaway to the Elbe Beach 🏖️, where the sun ☀️ and sea breeze will speed up your recovery! 👊

Take part in the Blankenese Hero Run and turn your race into a true epic! 🎉

4 reasons to join this race

Two Half-Marathons! 🎽
You'll have the chance to take on not one, but two half-marathons! The organizers have thought of everyone, catering to those who prefer a challenging 21 km course 🦾, with unexpected climbs, or another more traditional route that will reassure you that it's always easier than a full marathon! 😉
Unique Courses! 😎
That's right, there's no 5 km or 10 km run alongside the half-marathons here. Instead, you can sign up for a 6.5 km race, which may be unconventional but is packed with excitement! As for the other 6.8 km route, it holds plenty of surprises for you! We recommend you train well for that one 🤗.
In a Beautiful Neighborhood 😍
The Blankenese district is located to the west of Hamburg's shores. It's renowned for the Süllberg hill, its historic homes, fishing, and of course, the Leuchtturm Unterfeuer lighthouse, where all the race starts are set to begin! 🤌
By the Elbe River 💧
This major European river flowing through Bohemia will be your ally against the August heat. While summer's bright side is appreciated for many activities, it's not ideal for running or sports in general. Fortunately, the cool riverfront will be there to keep you refreshed! 🌬️

A few more words

The first third of the route up to Hirschpark is similar to the Sutsche Half-Marathon 👯‍♂️. From there, the course becomes more winding and demands greater physical fitness with inclines, especially the Polterberg – hence the name Derbe. The last section stretches less towards the west compared to the Sutsche Half-Marathon but circles around Table Mountain by way of Falkenstein. As with all distances, the ultimate destination is the Blankenese weekly market 🕺.
