Silence, action! 🎥
Head to Calvados in the region of Normandy, to participate in an exceptional event attracting finishers from around the globe 🌍. The date is set for November in the famous seaside resort of Deauville. While the sun shines, and the thermometer reads 28°C in the shade... Oops, wrong place! 😅 Here, in autumn 🍁, temperatures cool down, but it's not the time to slow down 😉. Some even find it ideal weather to tackle the famous Deauville International Marathon (yes, here we speak English 🇬🇧). The weather is changeable here, so expect a bit of rain and wind between sunny spells 🌞, but isn’t that part of the region's charm? Welcome to Normandy! ☂️
The organizers of the Deauville Marathon offer 4 road distances. There's something for all tastes and ages. Starting with a 10 km event on a super-flat route, perfect for potentially setting a new record! Then we get serious with the two main distances 👸: The Deauville Semi-Marathon, and if you want even more, the Marathon is waiting for you. These are easy courses where you can, depending on your mood, challenge yourself and/or enjoy yourself in a idyllic setting 😍. For the marathon distance, you can tackle it solo or in relays at 2 or 4 🤝. Not just the adults get a chance for glory! And to top it all, a children's race 🎠 is also organized. It's called the Deauvi'kids, and it's over a 900 m distance. As promised, it's an event open to all 👐.
While the stars of the American Film Festival will have left the venue, it's now your turn to don your best outfit and shine! ✨ No matter your choice, each course invites you to visit legendary places and surrounding villages. The "Deauville Marathon" (pronounced with an American accent, of course, cowboy 🤠) travels through Tourgéville, Benerville, and Saint-Arnoult (Parisians, don't worry, it's not the toll station 🚧). This 42.095 km route will take you to the heart of the countryside paths, immersing you in the beauty of the Calvados. Don't forget to look up and appreciate the sea views 🌊. You will be able to wander through the city with some fun sections, letting you discover the monuments of the Deauvillaise municipality. For an epic finish, no matter the distance you chose, you'll end on the beach's majestic wooden boardwalk 🏖, cheered on by numerous spectators. Note that the relay races allow you to run the last kilometer side by side on these famous boards to keep everyone happy, in front of a cheering crowd 🤪. A small challenge for you, try to identify as many names of cinema stars as possible, among those engraved on the bathing cabins. With some luck, Steven Spielberg 🎬 might pop out of his cabin to cheer or congratulate you. But don't get lost in your imagination 😉.
After the race, you still have to discover and fully enjoy the city and all it has to offer. The surroundings of the beach 👙 are lined with splendid palaces featuring traditional architecture like the Hôtel Barrière le Normandy with its colorful facades. You can also spot the ever-famous lifeguard cabins, like in Miami 🇺🇸. It's the perfect opportunity to roam the streets, where luxurious shops and historic villas await, such as the magnificent Villa Strassburger. Don't hesitate to enter the legendary Casino de Deauville. Under the crystal chandeliers, your finisher medal will shine brightly 🏅. Leaving the region without experiencing a horse race at the race track is unthinkable. Guaranteed spectacle! Between your race and visits, you might start to feel peckish. Take the time to savor fresh scallops 🤤. If you love cheese, the Camembert of Normandy will delight you 🧀. Finish with a little Norman hole before serenely tackling dessert and the Norman tart, you need to make space! 😬
If you have some free time left, you must visit the banks of the Touques, enjoying the local cider 🍾 in calm surroundings. You should also revisit the villages you briefly passed during your run, to fully enjoy them this time. If you follow the coast northwards, you'll reach the cliffs of Étretat to admire the hollow needle dear to Maurice Leblanc 🏞.
It's time for you to become the gentleman-Finisher! 👔
A mythical distance, for a course that is just as legendary!
In the form of a loop to be completed twice, the route that awaits you starts on rue de la Mer, before delving into the streets of the city of Deauville. You'll pass by the iconic racecourse of the city 🏇, before taking a tour through the surrounding towns. The route varies between urban paths and country roads, to combine city and nature over 42 km 🛞.
You will have the chance to pass through Tourgéville, Benerville, Saint-Arnoult, before heading back towards the beach 🏖. A grand finish awaits you on the famous Deauville boardwalks! 🌠
The 42 km marathon intimidates you a bit but you absolutely want to participate in this event? The organizers have thought of you with a 2-person relay formula 🤝.
The course consists of two loops of approximately 21 km each, allowing everyone a turn on the track. Racecourse, Deauville, Tourgéville, Benerville, Saint Arnoult, the beach, you will witness the same spectacle as your teammate 🎭.
Joined like never before, the last kilometer will be run together, hand in hand, for an exceptional finish on the legendary boards of Deauville! 🏁
"The more the merrier!" 😌
With family or friends, you'll be able to share emotions as well as efforts! Like the 3 musketeers (yes, there were actually 4 🙄), you and your fellow runners of the day will pass the baton on the famous marathon course.
Choose your running order wisely, as the distances vary. The first runner will complete 15 km after starting on rue de la Mer in Deauville. The second runner will have 7 km before passing the baton to the third runner, who will tackle nearly 14 km. Finally, the last runner will start an epic finish with 6 km to the finish line at the Deauville boardwalk 🚩.
If you are one of the previous three runners, you can join the last of your companions to accompany them during the final kilometer and finish the race as a team of 4!
Departure from Rue de la Mer, you will head into the streets of Deauville with a passage by the famous racecourse. At a trot or a gallop, you will have the opportunity to discover the surrounding towns 🏇: Tourgéville, Benerville, or even Saint-Arnoult will have no more secrets for you. Between city and country roads, believe us, you'll see plenty of scenery 😎. To finish in style, a long straight line awaits you along the seaside, leading to the finish in front of the Deauville Boardwalk.
Ready to put the pedal to the metal? 🚀 This 10 km offers you an always very flat course ideal for challenging the clock ⏱️. The positive point is that you will be able to admire the beach for a good part of your race 🏖️. You start in front of the boards before taking the promenade Michel d'Ornano. At km 2.5, turn around 🔄 and head towards Deauville and its lively streets 🎉 before crossing the finish line 💪.
No reason for just the grown-ups to have their moment of glory! The younger ones will also shine ⭐️. Over a distance of approximately 900 m, this race is open to children aged 7 to 12 years. A start on Rue de la Mer and a finish on the iconic wooden boardwalk of Deauville awaits them 🤩.
