It is usually through the location of a village ๐๏ธ, a city ๐๏ธ or a capital ๐ that we begin... Not this time, as it is the largest Italian lake that takes the spotlight ๐ฆ for this FILA LAKE GARDA 42.
Located in the north of Italy ๐ฎ๐น, the Lake Garda ๐ or Lago di Garda is a vacation spot divided between the mountains of Trentin (to the north), Verona (to the southeast) and Brescia (to the southwest) ๐งญ. But for this event, it is the road enthusiasts who will participate in one of the two distances offered by Communico agency. On the agenda, a half-marathon and a marathon for the cyborgs of the endurance race ๐ค. And let's not forget our dear kids ๐ถ, they too will have their race with the LG Kids Run of 600 m for those under 7 or 1.8 km for those under 12. The temperatures should still be a bit chilly ๐ก๏ธ in this early April, so hold off a bit longer before storing away your technical underwear in your closet ๐.
When it's early April it means... Beginning of spring ! ๐ธ Ahhhhh finallyโฆ Nature ๐ comes back to life and winter โ๏ธ comes to an end! The first buds appear, the animals come out of hibernation ๐ป and the birds ๐ฆ return singing to your ears ๐ถ. It's three months of alternating (not at a company though ๐ ), between rain ๐ง๏ธ and sunny days โ๏ธ. Well, the Italians are our neighbors, so they too face the famous spring showers. The weekend's program is versatile, making it an exciting and action-packed event ๐ช awaiting you to escape the winter โ๏ธ, in a breathtaking setting! ๐ฌ๏ธ
Weโll start with the LG42 (youโll understand why later), which is a marathon with 180mD+, starting from Limone, a charming village nestled between the mountain and the lake. Youโll head towards Riva del Garda, a town located at the northern tip of this same lake, with a refreshing sea breeze at your back, before continuing through the orchards of Arco ๐. An Italian town forming an arch (hence its name ๐) around a calcareous rock, it is shaped by ancient glaciers ๐ง on which stands the ruins of the La Rocca castle ๐ฐ.
While the marathoners will have reached the halfway point, it will only be the beginning for the runners of the LG21, which is a half-marathon with 50mD+ (that should be fine ๐). Then, head to the resort of Torbole which seems designed for active vacationers ๐, with its numerous cafรฉs โ๏ธ and restaurants ๐. All runners now follow the eastern shore south, with the lake on the right โก๏ธ and the mountains on the left โฌ ๏ธ. You will reach Malcesine in a sweeping move ๐ฆต before crossing the finish line ๐ and becoming a finisher of an Italian race ๐.
If you enjoyed the experience in the boot-shaped country, let us offer you new challenges ๐. The Rome Marathon is one, in the city of seven hills, as is the Bari Med Marathon, facing the Adriatic sea ๐, or the Venice Marathon, with (almost) as much fervor as the carnival ๐ญ.
In terms of discovery, you don't need to go far, Lake Garda still holds many surprises ๐ for you. The seaside resort of Riva del Garda, nicknamed "the pearl of the lake", is a Mediterranean oasis, located at the foot of the Dolomites. You can admire a lush vegetation with lemon trees ๐, palm trees ๐ด, laurels, and olive trees ๐ซ. If you're looking for a bit of escape, stray away from the lake shores and go for an excursion to the Varone waterfalls ๐ฆ at Tenno or discover Gardaland ๐ก, Italy's number one leisure complex. Finally, if you're not too tired ๐ด after your finish, gain some height with the Malcesine cable car ๐ . It will take you to the summit of Monte Baldo โฐ๏ธ with an unobstructed view of the lake and the mountains, as well as the outline of the Castello Scaligero ๐ฐ located at its foot ๐คฉ.
If you join us, you will truly enjoy it! ๐
The Confrontation!
Heading to the lakeside at Limone, the slightly downhill start through tunnels will lead you to Riva del Garda. The refreshing sea breeze and the sound of waves will give you the feeling of floating on Lake Garda ๐ฌ๏ธ. The charming streets of Riva del Garda will guide you to the northern tip of the lake, passing through the orchards, up to Arco. At the midpoint, it will be time to recharge your batteries before continuing towards Torbole, where your family, friends, and spectators will fiercely cheer you on. Keeping the lake on your right and the mountains on your left, you will reach Malcesine without even noticing, as a well-deserved reward awaits you there. Incidentally, you will cross the finish line ๐.
The Test!
Your departure will take place in Arco, where the certainty of having the marathon runners on your heels will really push you forward. Along the Sarca river, you will head towards the station of Torbole. The fresh breeze should give you new energy. Under the cheers of the spectators at the rear, you will cover, meter by meter, a diverse course between mountain slopes and lake shores. When the Castello Scaligero appears, you will reach the finish line. After reaching Malcesine, the finish line ๐ will be your last obstacle before earning your finisher's medal ๐ .
