The event in a few words

And since the race takes place in the heart of Umbria, in Italy 🇮🇹, you must probably be the ray of light everyone’s talking about 😌. In October, come dazzle the competition and the locals of Campello sul Clitunno.

If you like trails that smell of nature and simple pleasures, Frantoi Aperti in Umbria is exactly your kind of outing: you run right in the heart of the country where hilltop villages share the spotlight with dense forests 🌳. Perugia, Terni or Spoleto—maybe these typical villages of the region ring a bell? But enough chit-chat, let’s focus on the area that concerns us: Campello sul Clitunno 📍. The surroundings are mainly made up of olive trees, stone buildings and small shrubs. A dream view for anyone who loves warm regions steeped in history. This small municipality of 2,500 inhabitants may not be the most touristy in all of Italy, but we assure you it has plenty of surprises in store—especially at this time of year 🎁.

And to illustrate our point, let us tell you about Frantoi Aperti in Umbria, which offers 5 routes split between cycling, trail and road running. If you’re coming for fun and to enjoy the effort, the "Frantoi Aperti Trail Run" will tick all the boxes 🏃‍♀️. This short trail in the great outdoors can be done in "a stroll through Italian valleys" mode, or in a playful mode with a prize for the best costume of the day 🦸‍♂️. Green olive or Roman legionary, you just have to rack your brains to find the best idea for this edition 🤔. We’d still advise you not to dress up as a brick—you’ll have to lug your costume for 16 km and more than 500 mD+ 🫨. But if you don’t like climbs on rocky trails, don’t run off just yet. A competitive 10 km, a non-timed 10 km and a family 5 km are also on the program. Children will be able to lace up their nicest pair of running shoes and come take on their idols on a flat, paved route 🛣️. The fun highway is this way!

Finally, the organizers leave no one out—and certainly not cyclists! 🚴 "La Grande Pedalata" lets you experience the event differently, on two wheels 🎉. A 40 km route through Umbrian landscapes is dedicated to you. Pimp your ride to the max so that all eyes are on you all along the post-meal spin that awaits. And remember not to set off with a full stomach—you might come across a bunch of tasting stands on your way 👀.

Once the bike is taken apart, the sneakers put away and the calves cleaned, start with a break at the Fonti del Clitunno, a spot of greenery and crystal-clear water that’s perfect for the heart ❤️. Your BPM will never come down in such a pleasant way 😎. Then head to Spoleto to wander between alleys and viewpoints, or climb up to Trevi and its olive-grove panoramas, then finish in Foligno for the Italian piazza vibe, a drink on the terrace and the dinner that truly hits the spot 🍽️. For lovers of Italian cuisine hiding among us, it’s also possible to tackle the mythical Strangozzi alla Norcina or Umbricelli al tartufo, 100% Central Italy pasta!

So, are you (a)perti for Umbria? 🏁
