It's not about slowness, Lentemarathon means "Spring Marathon" in Dutch ๐ค.
It fits perfectly, as you have a date in the Netherlands in March for the KPMG Amstelveen Spring Marathon! ๐ค To celebrate the return of spring ๐, the warmth, and the beautiful flowers, why not enjoy a marathon between city and nature? ๐ Amstelveen, just a few kilometers from Amsterdam, makes this possible! The event is quite new, but in just 4 years, the number of participants has more than doubled, going from 4,000 to 9,000 runners ๐คฏ. This spring marathon has all the makings of a big one, almost like the Amsterdam Marathon! And like it, it sells out at each edition, so be ready for the top sales launch! ๐ฅ
But before that, we need to tell you more about the event in detail โฌ๏ธ. You'll need to be fast and not just to get your bib! The KPMG Amstelveen Spring Marathon course is also very fast ๐. 2h 28min and 41 seconds, that's the record to beat for the marathon! We warned you, it's tough ๐ช. At the same time, the Dutch ๐ณ๐ฑ plains are not known for their elevation, making it a delight for runners! ๐ If you're not feeling up to so many kilometers ๐ฌ, 3 other distances are available: a half-marathon, a 10 km, and a 5 km night run ๐. So no excuses not to participate โ. And if that's not enough to convince you, the 5 and 10 km are open to walkers. Bring the whole family, everyone will find something they love. Even future champs have their own race! ๐ถ The KPMG Amstelveen Spring Marathon isn't just for speed lovers, it's also for runners wanting to enjoy the scenery. Spoiler alert ๐จ, here's a sneak peek of some course highlights! Historic center, forest trails ๐ณ, Amstel river (no, it's not beer flowing in it ๐ป), or the Oude Dorp neighborhood... A true journey awaits ๐คฉ. And to finish this journey with a flourish, head to the mall! ๐๏ธ Yes, you read that right ๐. The finish line is right in the middle of the large Amstelveen shopping center ๐. You didn't expect such an ending, did you? ๐
Well, after spending all your money ๐ฐ in the Dutch stores to celebrate your victory ๐ฅ, what could you do next? ๐ค Refuel? The city has it all planned out! Cheese vendors abound, so you'll easily find some Edam, a typical Dutch cheese, to enjoy ๐. After this feast, you'll probably be thirsty, so it's time to savor an Amstel on a terrace, under the spring sun โ๏ธ (drink responsibly โ ๏ธ). Yes, with the return of good weather, outdoor walks are a great way to combine a convivial moment and recovery for your sore legs! There are many parks: Jac P Thijssepark, Kersenbloesempark, Broersepark... ๐ Don't worry, the parks have more charm than their spelling ๐.
So do us a favor, grab your bib before it's too late ๐.
Get ready to become the king of road racing! 42.195 km through the most beautiful spots of Amstelveen! ๐คฉ

You will then follow the Amsterdamseweg and Oude Dorp to reach the south of Amstelveen and its large athletics track ๐๏ธ. After making a big loop in the forest and then in the city, you'll head to the athletics track at Startbaan! ๐๏ธ You can then proudly raise your arms under the finish arch! ๐
For this 10 km, you will start by following the Graaf Aelbrechtlaan heading to Braakpark ๐ณ. Then you'll loop through the Bleeksekade, one of the green lungs of the city of Amstelveen ๐. And just like the other races, you'll have the opportunity to leave the city for a few kilometers to cross the forest of Amsterdam! ๐ You'll then head to the finish line at Stadshart via Stationsstraat! ๐
Turn on your headlamp and come light up the streets of Amstelveen!
For this 5 km run, you'll go along Graaf Aelbrechtlaan, cross Amsterdamseweg, and pass through the Oude Dorp ๐๏ธ neighborhood. Before you know it, you'll be nearing the finish line! ๐ A U-turn at Stationsstraat and head towards Stadshart to collect your medal! ๐ฅ
