Lisbon, city of seven hills, azulejos, and fado… But also, for one weekend, the playground of a 100% nature and 200% challenge marathon! 🔥 Here, it’s not just about a little jog along the Tagus admiring the yellow trams. No, no, no. We take you in April to the largest green lung of the capital, the Parque Florestal de Monsanto.
Your calves will soon realize that Lisbon is all about climbing. And descending. And climbing again 🥵. The start and finish are set at Parque Eduardo VII, the largest park in the city center 🌳. On one side, a panoramic view of Lisbon, on the other, a promise: a course as breathtaking as it is challenging 😬. Here, no traffic jams, no red lights, just you, nature, and an elevation that'll test your love for running. If you've ticked the marathon box, prepare for a 42 km of character 🇵🇹. With 1,360 mD+, it’s not just a leisurely city tour, but a true wild escape into Monsanto, the "lung" of the capital. And then, finishing at Parque Eduardo VII, with the city as a backdrop, it’s quite stylish, isn’t it? For thrill-seekers, the semi-marathon is a gem ⭐️. 21 km, 740 mD+, and a perfect alternation between climbs, descents, and long rolling sections. If you’re the kind who prefers short distances over long speeches, then the 12 km is your ally 💨. Here, there's no time to dawdle: 470 mD+, some climbs that wake you up ⚡️, descents that set you free 😮💨, and a finish line where you can proudly say that yes, you too conquered Monsanto 🏅 (and no, not the multinational, though it’s equally noble 🙃). For those who prefer to take the time to admire the beauty of the landscape without ending up drenched in sweat, the walk of 8 km is the perfect alternative 🌿. With 320 mD+, it’s a walk well-deserved, offering exceptional views of the city and its surroundings 😎. Plus, it gives you time to scout the best pastelarias to stop by afterward. Because, well, walking works up an appetite too...🫣
You've climbed, sweated, puffed like an old Electrico 28 tram, it's time to reward yourself like a true Lisboeta 👏. Head to Belém, where a never-ending line will lead you to the ultimate grail: a pastel de nata crispy and still warm 💛. To celebrate properly, a glass of vinho verde is a must, fresh and sparkling, to revive your tired legs (to be consumed in moderation, of course 🍷). If you want to play the tourist post-marathon, head to Alfama, with its narrow streets where the climbs will remind you that there was still some juice left in your thighs 💥. Stop by the Belém Tower, take a cliché photo in front of the Jerónimos Monastery 📸, and if your legs truly give out, hop in a tuk-tuk for an express VIP-style tour 🚖.
So, are you ready to trade asphalt for trails and make your calves sing louder than a Barcelos rooster ? 🐓
Ready to tackle the mythical distance? The marathon promises an unforgettable race, amidst full nature 🌿. With over 1000 m of elevation gain, this course will test your legs while offering spectacular views of the Portuguese capital. After a majestic start from Parque Eduardo VII 🇵🇹, you'll dive into the Parque Florestal de Monsanto, the true green lung of Lisbon 🌳. But rest assured, the city will never be far away! Between two climbs, you might even catch a fado tune carried by the wind 🎶.
If you want a serious challenge without committing to a full marathon, the half marathon is for you! 💥 740 mD+ await you for a race that perfectly combines effort and pleasure 🤩. You will cross the same beautiful landscapes as the marathon runners, immersing yourself in the greenery of the Parque Florestal de Monsanto 🌳. With ascents and descents, your cardio will be challenged, but the festive atmosphere and public support will carry you to the finish 🎉.
Do you want an accessible race but with character? This 12 km is exactly what you need! 🔥 With 470 mD+, you'll definitely feel a few bumps, but they will only spice up the adventure 🌶️. After starting in the impressive Parque Eduardo VII, you will dive into the forest paths of the Parque Florestal de Monsanto 🌲, where the shade of the trees will keep you cool. Whether you're there to break your record or just enjoy a run in an exceptional setting, one thing is sure: you'll cross the finish line with a big smile... and maybe a little desire to go another round! 😏
