The event in a few words

Head to Verona 🇮🇹, the city of the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet 💏.

If they sealed their love in this beautiful city, we think you too might get swept up in a frenzy of love 😍 (but this time everything will end well, promise 😉). But don’t forget that you’re here for the race! You’re more likely to find a stitch than to find your soulmate! 😂 But luckily, the Verona Marathon offers different races: a “Family Run” of 7 km for those who want to enjoy the city 😳, a magnificent half marathon with its 21 km for romantics 😘, and the fabulous marathon of 42 km for the passionate 🤤. If you come to Italy for the Verona Run Marathon, whether just for the marathon or the half marathon, you’ll have the chance to run through the must-see alleyways of the city center, but also more remote, wilder spots 🌾. "Mmmh ma che bella"! 🎻

The marathon as well as the half marathon will start on the majestic Corso di Porta Nuova, just a stone’s throw from the finish line set in the magnificent Piazza Brà. After the start, the course will wind through the flat streets of Verona. You’ll run along the small roads and the magnificent Castelvecchio bridge before following one of Italy’s largest rivers: the Adige! 🌊 This postcard-worthy scenery 🖼️ will help you forget the fifteen or so kilometers you still have to cover before heading back into the city center 🌇. But the effort is worth it. With its medieval style, its old houses, and its Roman remains 👩‍🏫, Verona is among the most beautiful Italian cities 🥰. And if you’re doing the half marathon, it will soon be the end of your ordeal dream. You’ll leave the marathon runners to head out to the other side of the riverbanks and take yourself straight to Piazza Brà, right next to the impressive Arena Di Verona 🏛️. Meanwhile, the brave marathoners will be deep in the green! 🌳 This time, it’s the charm of the Italian suburbs that might make you fall in love ❤️. Don’t lose your bearings 🧭: the turnaround is in Parona, at the gateway to the Valpolicella vineyards 🍇. Don’t forget your goal 🎯: race! 🏃‍♂️ When you reach the municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo, you’ll have about 10 km left to smash your time ⏱️ and join your friends at the finish line! 🏁

As you can see, these different courses will let you discover and flirt with the historic sites of Verona ⚜️. You’ve got it: a real cultural and romantic epic awaits you, and we hope you’ll have a strong heart (and cardio on point 🫀) to meet and woo Italy! 😎 Get your ticket 🎟️ and come discover a unique race in a historic setting 📚 that will take you on a journey with every kilometer 🏃‍♀️.

Running lovers, Verona is waiting to shake you up… and make you sweat! 💦

4 reasons to join this race

Cross the line at the foot of the Arena 🏟️
Few races offer a finish like this: the line awaits you on Piazza Bra, just a stone’s throw from one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. Marathon, half, or “Family Run”—everyone gets it, and your supporters only have a few steps to take from the start 📣.
Discover the beauty of Verona 😮
Yes, Verona lines up some bellissimi monuments! 🏺 The course goes through Piazza delle Erbe, the former Roman forum, at the foot of the Torre dei Lamberti 🏰, and passes under the city’s monumental gates. The next day, head under Porta Borsari and end your stroll like a king in Piazza dei Signori… 👑
Take your other half to Juliet 💒
As we told you, this city is home to Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, the story of Romeo and Juliet 💔. So take the chance to discover Juliet’s house. Turned into a museum in 1905, Juliet’s house and its famous balcony draw lovers from around the world, even though Shakespeare never set foot in Verona 😏. Oh, love is in the air!
“Per la gastronomia italiana” 🤌
Italian cuisine is internationally renowned, and we never get tired of it! During your stay, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the choices on restaurant menus. On the menu: the famous “pastas” 🍝 or a delicious “pizza” 🍕 that will make your heart skip a beat! ♥️ Mmm, now we’re hungry! 😋

A few more words

Get off to a flying start on Corso Porta Nuova, just a stone’s throw from the arena. The first kilometers take you around the western districts of Verona, before you reach the Adige and cross the Diga del Chievo 🌉, a dam that’s more than a century old. You’ll then cruise to the village of Parona, at the gateway to Valpolicella, for a turnaround around km 11. Back along the river 💧 to Castelvecchio, which you’ll cross to dive into the historic center, between Sant’Anastasia and Piazza delle Erbe, around km 20. Then head east via Porta Vescovo, for a straight line of about 3 km 🛣️ and a loop around San Martino Buon Albergo between km 27 and km 34. On the way back, the Giovanni Duca barracks opens its doors to you around km 36 🪖: the soldiers will be waiting for you there with some well-deserved refreshments. You’ll pass through Porta Vescovo again at km 40 before the final turn toward Piazza Bra, at the foot of the arena 🎉. Elevation varies only from 57 to 71 m over the whole route, but a long gentle uphill, from km 30 to km 38 📈, will tease your legs right at the moment of the 30 wall.
