The event in a few words

Welcome to the capital of Lombardy ! 🇮🇹

The Milan Marathon is gearing up to entertain you in 2027, to celebrate their 25th anniversary! 🤩 Its international reputation in the running world is well-known: the Wizz Air Milano Marathon is not an ordinary race, but rather an unforgettable memory in the minds of each of its participants! 💗 It is unique in its kind and especially the fastest marathon in the country, with a start and finish in the center of the second largest city in Italy! If you’re not keen on doing 42 km solo, no worries, you can still participate in the marathon in a 4-person relay! 💣 As a team, and stronger than ever, each runner will have to complete between 6.5 km and 13 km 👣. You’ll pass by many famous monuments, from Arco Della Pace 🏛️, to Castello Sforzesco 🏰, then the Duomo, of course, but also the parc di Trenno 🌳, the San Siro racetrack 🏇 or the G.Meazza stadium! 🏟️ Some people are lucky! 🍀

The positive point that makes a difference when running the Milano Marathon is the atmosphere! 🥳 Every street corner is a real fiesta party, almost better than some well-watered evenings! 🤪 Anyway, you won’t lack encouragement. Italians will know how to use their strong voices to cheer you on! 🗣️ The course passes through the city’s highlights, where many supporters will be there to celebrate you! 🕺 Moreover, it won't just be the supporters celebrating! Did you know that a dog race is also organized? 🐶 What better than being accompanied by your faithful companion to push your limits together? The 1.5 km race will take place on Saturday for our four-legged friends 🐩. On Saturday, there will also be the "Family Run". So, you can bring your little family along to set the chronometer in crew! 👨‍👧‍👧

Well, running is great, but you might be wondering what Milan can offer you? Well, plenty of things, don't get it wrong! And I promise, it’s not just fashion that is iconic in Milan 👗. To prove otherwise, Finishers offers you unusual places to make your stay even more exciting! On your first day in Milan, you cannot miss the streets of the city center. The Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the Palazzo Reale, the Museo del Novecento, the Teatro della Scala and the Brera Art Gallery. Delight in the wonderful scents of the Brera Botanical Garden, founded by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria (Marie-Antoinette’s mother) 👑. More than 300 plant species await you 🌿. Otherwise, have you heard of igloo houses? ❄️ No, not the ones from the Inuits, but those in Italy! 😵 They are small round houses, built after the Second World War. They are part of Milan’s architectural wealth, of course! To contemplate it, we recommend climbing onto the roof of the Milan Cathedral (you should know where it is, the start of your race is on the square next to it 😉). Bonus for fans of the Paris Catacombs (because yes, they are much more popular than you might think): the San Bernardino ossuary ! 🦴 Also called the kingdom of the dead, it’s a somewhat peculiar chapel because it is covered with bones. And yes, that’s part of the culture too! 🙌 In any case, in Milan, you won’t be twiddling your thumbs… 🙄

Well then? Are we meeting at the Milan Marathon? 💪 Grab your bib number and start exploring the city, on foot or running! ☺️

5 reasons to join this race

A raaapiiideee race 🥇
Indeed, we've told you: this course is really fast! ⚡️ Moreover, it's flat and smooth. So, if you're a somewhat seasoned runner, you're going to have fun 😌. In 2021, Kenyan Itus Ekiru finished in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 57 seconds. An incredible performance that proves this race can help you beat your PR! 🏆
An incredible atmosphere 🤯
No, it's not negligible! If you're set on exceeding your limits to the point of running a marathon, you need supporters, and you won't be short of them here! 🥳 The people of Milan will be out, and there will also be DJs and musicians to set the track alight! 🎶
A course where you'll look up 👀
Many monuments will be along your path, so even though the course is very fast, the beauty of the surroundings might slow you down a bit. Hopefully not too much! 😅 Between the start and finish at Piazza Duomo and the rest of the course, you're going to appreciate it 😇.
The fashion capital! 👔
Yes, we said there were many other things to do. But still, we imagine there are a few fashionistas hiding among the runners 👞. They won't be disappointed! Between the major brand stores, designers, and shops aplenty, Milan's international reputation is justified! 🧥
Races for everyone! 👐
If the marathon scares you a bit, you can always do it in a 4-person relay ✌️. You can also share the 2 km race experience with your faithful companion, or bring your family for the "Family Run"! So, what do you think? 🤝

A few more words

So, you're embarking on a fantastic marathon? 😉 You're absolutely right! In any case, the course is truly amazing 🤩.

On the 2026 course, you'll start from the Piazza Duomo, and then head towards the Porta Venezia. A few km further, there will be the Arena Civica, the Arco della Pace, and the Castello Sforzesco! You'll then pass through the City Life district, where you can enjoy your third refreshment🥤. Then, you'll head towards the Monte Stella, for some greenery! At km 20, it's the San Siro Racecourse 🏇 that will stand before you, only to make way for the G.Meazza Stadium (it goes for the soccer enthusiasts ⚽).

You'll have completed half of this flat and smooth course! Then, you can enjoy the so-called Trenno Park to get a breath of fresh air! 🌷 You'll slowly begin to make your return to your starting point, and on your way, there will be the Del Portello Park. A few km later, you'll have your 9th refreshment. You'll pass again in front of the Arena Civica, but with music! 🎸 Indeed, it will be a highlight for the party! You'll have 3 short km left where you can see, among other things, the Alla Scala Theater 👹, before finally crossing that fantastic finish line on the Piazza Duomo, just in front of the Milan Cathedral! 🥳

Yes. To take part in the marathon, you must be at least 20 years old on race day.

As an international runner, you can register in the non-competitive category. In that case, you don’t need to provide a medical certificate or a Runcard. You’ll simply need to accept and sign a liability waiver in your entry form.

Worth noting: 99% of international runners choose this category. You will still receive an official time and start in the same start corrals as competitive runners.

If you prefer, you can enter the competitive category instead. This option is mainly intended for Italian runners, elite athletes, and those aiming for a podium finish. You’ll receive an official time and be ranked among Italian runners, licensed athletes, and other competitive participants. To do so, you must provide a medical certificate plus either an FFA license or a Runcard. The Runcard is an Italian license (€15) that allows runners who are not affiliated with an athletics federation to compete in the competitive category. It can be purchased at www.runcard.com.

Yes, the marathon has a 6-hour 30-minute time limit. There are two cut-off points:

  • 21.1 km: 3 hours 15 minutes

  • 28 km: 4 hours 20 minutes

With your bib, each athlete will receive a tag (showing their race number) to attach, as well as an official organizer-provided bag in which you can store your personal clothing. This transparent, clearly numbered bag is the only bag accepted by the organization. It must be handed to staff at the bag drop in the designated area at Piazza Castello/Viale Gadio, where it will be stored and can be collected by the athlete after the race. It’s recommended not to leave valuables (phone, wallet, etc.) in the bag. While the organization will do its best to look after the bags, it cannot be held responsible for any theft.

If you finish the Milan Marathon, you’ll receive a medal and a finisher shirt at the end of the race.

Your entry includes:

  • Race bib

  • Race pack with sponsor products

  • Wizz Air voucher (for all participants)
