Have you ever pretended to be a Formula 1 car? 🏎️ Well, you’ll be able to do it for the duration of a race, with the Monza Half Marathon held in the town of the same name, in Lombardy in the north of the Boot 🇮🇹. This race offers 4 different distances to run on the city’s legendary circuit, which has hosted every year since 1950 the Italian Grand Prix of Formula 1 🏆. You’ll see that the start/finish straight is much longer than on TV! 😂 It’s a road race that’s more or less demanding, depending on your level of training and equipment 🤓. Luckily, the half marathon takes place in October, so you won’t have to endure the summer heat 🥵 of the center of the Boot.
The organizers of the Monza Half have planned four formats for a fairly family-friendly event. No need to be a Lewis Hamilton of running to take part: whether you’re a sprinter, a diesel, or a true hybrid engine, there’s definitely a distance made for you 🚦. 5 km, 10 km, 21 km or 30 km, you’ll be spoilt for choice 🫢. 4 road races—and what a road! Of course, the circuit is pretty smooth and fast! 💨 And fast and smooth means... record! And yes, this is the perfect opportunity to smash your times thanks to a course that will have you going as fast as a race car! ⏱ But careful—no burning out the engine too early! 🥵 The pit stops (aid stations for humans) are strategically placed so you can recharge your batteries 🔋. A splash of water 💧, an energy gel ⚡️, and off you go again like a single-seater after a lightning stop ⛽.
Besides getting to discover the iconic Monza circuit in a different way, this race is also a chance to spend some time in the Boot. Especially since Lombardy is really close to France 🇫🇷, so the trip isn’t too long! No shared border with France, but the Italian region neighbors Piedmont, which in turn borders the regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur 🌞 and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Just 45 minutes from Monza is Milan, the largest city in Lombardy, often considered the country’s strongest economically and the fashion capital 👠. This large city holds some historical treasures such as Il Duomo, Milan’s cathedral ⛪. A magnificent monument that looks stitched rather than cut! 😍 The Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery or the Cenacolo Museum are other wonders of this great city loved by travelers. Still in Lombardy, beautiful Bergamo with its old town and cobbled streets awaits you with open arms. In the province of Brescia, Sirmione is a lovely destination, offering you in particular Lake Garda, a jewel of northern Italy. Lake Como is even closer to Monza, so what are you waiting for to take your other half there? 💍
Beyond Italy’s immense cultural heritage, our neighbor is lucky to have within it the wonderful mountains of the Dolomites ⛰️. Okay, we agree it’s a bit far from Monza, but you don’t leave France every weekend, so we’d rather recommend this natural area! Nature lovers won’t regret the discovery, as this massif has absolutely incredible landscapes, often very dramatic 😍.
So, what are you waiting for to grab your shoes and run at Formula 1 speed? 🏁
If you came to make the engine roar and prove you’ve got the heart of a real driver, the 30 km is your race. You’ll need to be as enduring as a driver and also as strategic as an F1 team 🏎️. Race management is the key: find your pace, settle into the best racing line, and don’t forget the aid stations.
The straights will feel as long as a full Formula 1 season, but this is where you’ll truly shine 😋. When your legs scream "STOP" 🛑, your mind roars "FULL GAS"! 💥 On this legendary circuit, every corner is a victory 🏆.
Welcome to the big leagues with the 21 km, the flagship distance for runner-drivers who love speed AND endurance 👸. Here, you’ll have to manage your engine 🔋, and not burn all your cartridges right from the start.
The straightaways will feel endless, but it’s the perfect opportunity to deploy your aero and go flat out💨. In Monza, you’ll be able to go for a fast time with a course as quick as an F1. And don’t forget: the real victory is crossing the finish line with your arms in the air and the pride of having tamed this legendary half marathon 🏁.
The 10 km "Competitive" is for those who love speed, strategy, and precision 😎. Here, there’s no room for Sunday drivers: it’s you against the clock ⏱️, and every turn is a chance to gain seconds. You’ll have to manage your pace like a real team principal: a fast but controlled start, a solid cruising pace, and a turbo-mode finish to smash your personal best.
This is the moment to show you’re a war machine, a true elite driver of the 10 km. Ready to give it everything on the final straight? 🚀
The 10 km "Non-Competitive" is for those who want to enjoy the legendary course without the pressure of racing 🧘. Here, no timing, no stress: you come for fun, for the thrill, and to proudly say: "I ran at Monza!" 🏎️
You move at your own pace, soak up the atmosphere, and treat yourself on a track where F1 legends have left their marks 😍. It’s your moment, your personal warm-up lap , and it doesn’t matter if you walk down the straight or treat yourself to a pit stop extended. In Monza, even diesel engines are stars ⭐️.
Want to enjoy the legendary Monza circuit without putting pressure on yourself? The 5 km "Non-Competitive" is made for you 🙌. Here, no time to crush and no checkered flag to aim for. It’s pure pleasure to set foot on the same track as the greatest drivers in history, walking, jogging, or running at your own pace 😁.
Enjoy yourself! In Monza, even in stroll mode, you’ll be a superstar 🏁.
