Ready to escape the chill and gloom of November? Head to Montigny-le-Bretonneux for a race that’s shaping up to be invigorating! 😌
It’s southwest of Paris that the road race Parcourir Montigny sets off at the end of autumn 🍂. In principle, no snowflakes on the agenda, but a forecast that could still make your fingertips sting. What’s more, the little town you’ll start from, in Montigny-Le-Bretonneux in the Yvelines, is not far from Versailles, known for its brisk air and fairly low temperatures 🥶. It’s no coincidence that Louis XIV always wore big coats. So if you too don’t want to pull out the puffer jacket to cover the race kilometers, get your legs ready to run fast—the best way to warm up 🔥. And anyway, even if the sun decides to show its face and the thermometer climbs past 10 degrees, we’re not sure good old Louis will come out to join you! 😂
Two distances are on the program for this race in Île-de-France: the half portion of 5 km and the double portion of 10K. The route will take you through the city streets at such a speed you’ll barely see the buildings go by 💨. It will have you running on asphalt in search of a new PR, or simply a personal breakthrough ⬆. What we can guarantee is that every element of the course will be set up to allow you to speed up and overtake at your ease 🏎️. To do so, you’ll have 2 loops of 5 km to complete if you’re running the 10 km, and just one if you chose the 5 km. Got it? You’ll then continue through the streets of Montigny, surrounded by the city’s splendid historic sites. It’s a chance to discover Place Claudel, the Sourderie district and its arcades, the Saint-Quentin pond, the Ferme du Manet, the Fort de Saint-Cyr, Saint Martin’s Church and the Château de Montigny. Phew, we got them all! 😅
And because running is inclusive as well as enjoyable, children’s races are also organized for the young recruits 🫡. After an emotion-packed return to school, it’s time to let it all out on this fast course 🏃. Luckily, the organizers aren’t monsters and set the first starts from 9:30 am: adults and little ones alike will be able to sleep in a bit and avoid dew on their carbon pairs 💦. The start isn’t at dawn, so temperatures can warm up and be perfect for getting the engine running without overheating 🥵.
So, you weren’t expecting so many landmarks? Why do you think Omar Sy and Eric Judor lived around here? Must be they have a taste for the good things 😁. As for Shy’m, she’ll tell you "So what, what does it matter to you" to run on the same roads as them? But if celebrities aren’t really your thing 👨🎤, you can also enjoy the surroundings, between guided tours and the great outdoors. Among other things, the theme park "France Miniature" will let you rediscover the country’s finest monuments, or the Donjon de Maurepas, a historic site standing 20 meters high 🧱. For greener discoveries 🌱, you can also head to the Étang de Saint-Quentin or Lac de la Sourderie, which on top of that offers original architecture you won’t see anywhere else 😳. And if you really want to broaden your horizons, hop in the car and head straight for the Park of the Palace of Versailles, listed by UNESCO.
In short, to show that you’re literally untouchable and able to dodge all the platanes that will stand in your way 🌳, go run in Montigny-le-Bretonneux!
A word from the organizer:
"A super fast, flowing course—ideal for smashing your time. For FFA athletes, it’s time to come and secure your qualification for the next French championships!"
Since 2021, the 5 km & 10 km courses have held the Regional Qualifying Label 🇫🇷. In short, by coming to run in Montigny, you can qualify for the French championships in the blink of an eye 🫰. The course consists of 2 loops of 5 km, so don’t panic if you feel like you’re going in circles: that’s normal!
If you think 5 km is long, make it easier on yourself and tell yourself that after all it’s only 5 x 1 km 🥶. Yes, yes, we reassure ourselves however we can, but you’ll see it’s going to fly on this single-loop course. Tie your shoes tight, so you don’t lose your pair on the road 😳.
Several children’s routes are offered by the organizer:
Don’t wait to secure your spot—only 180 places are available on these routes (100 for the 1,500 m and 80 for the 800 m) 🎟️.
