A neighbor of Bologna ๐, it will offer you breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and let you discover the charms of the Emilia-Romagna region. For that, you can choose between 3 distances ๐ค.
Whatever your level, you'll have no excuse not to put on your bib! ๐คท There's something for everyone here: the organizers of the Ravenna Marathon have thought of as many people as possible โ๏ธ. Judge for yourself: a 10 km to run untimed โฑ๏ธ or in competition mode ๐๏ธ, a half marathon and finally a marathon for the most seasoned ๐๏ธ. Spoiled for choice, we told you! ๐ You'll also be spoiled for choice with the monuments you'll come across! Yes, you'll be immersed in the history of this Italian city that has kept the traces of its battles. While you fight your own battle against your race, you'll be able to admire Piazza del Popolo ๐, the Palazzo Merlato, the Basilica of San Vitale or even the Basilica of San Francesco โช๏ธ. You'll even get a little nature escape in the Rocca Brancaleone Park! ๐ณ
You can note down in your travel notebook a visit to the magnificent Basilica of San Vitale โค๏ธ, a Byzantine jewel filled with impressive mosaics. If you're a history fan, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia will leave you with many memories ๐ฅฐ. For a family day out, head to the Mirabilandia theme park, one of the largest amusement parks in Italy! ๐ข A stop that will be enjoyed by young and old alike. Also, those thirsty for nature will appreciate the dune landscapes and salt pans of the Salina di Cervia nature reserve, which is home to a wide variety of plants and birds ๐ฆ.
After your race, you'll surely want to recover. The start of this legendary marathon will be in the heart of the city of Ravenna, in the Pala de Andrรฉ ๐ฉ district. The runners will first head to the banks of the Candiano Canal ๐โโ๏ธ. The first kilometers will be run along the banks of the canal, which flows into the Adriatic Sea ๐. After this beautiful opening, head to Teodorico Park, where you'll find a statue of the same name. It's the first of the historical monuments you will encounter during this race, and not the last! ๐ Enjoy these green strides, as it's the only park crossed on the course of this road race! You will then go around the Ravenna train station ๐ and run along the edges of the Rocca Brancaleone Park ๐ณ, a place much loved by families, before heading to the Arian Baptistery.
Next up are the Piazza del Popolo and the Merlato Palace, another marvel of the city, which has now become the town hall of Ravenna. You'll be truly in the heart of the city ๐. You will then arrive at the Basilica of San Vitale, dating from the 6th century. Next, you will pass near another Baptistery, called Neoniano, known for its Byzantine mosaics. The streets taken by the race will bring you closer to one of the most legendary writers of Italian literature, Dante Alighieri ! ๐ His tomb is located just before the Basilica of San Francesco โช๏ธ. Once you have passed it, you will head down with your group of friends toward the Ponte Nuovo area, then toward Classe, another district in the south of the city. It is here, near the Basilica of San Apollinare, that you will begin the climb back toward the center, not without making one last detour toward the Punta di Ravenna. The finish takes place, to the cheers of the crowd, near the public gardens of Ravenna, where the Loggetta Lombardesca is located ๐.

Like the marathon runners, the half marathon runners set off on Sunday morning for a superb course in the heart of Ravenna ๐โโ๏ธ. The start will take place in the Pala de Andrรฉ district, located just below the Candiano Canal, the link between the city and the Adriatic Sea ๐. The first kilometers are run along the banks of the canal before turning toward the Teodorico Park. Ravenna has no shortage of historical monuments โจ. After crossing the park, you will go around the Ravenna train station ๐, before turning toward the Rocca Brancaleone Park, a place much loved by families ๐.
Next up for you is the Piazza del Popolo and the Palazzo Merlato, another marvel of the city. The Basilica of San Vitale, dating from the 6th century, and the Neonian Baptistery, known for its Byzantine mosaics, will be your next stops. For the 10 km runners, the race focuses on the historic center of the city of Ravenna ๐. The start will be at Pala de Andrรฉ, located just below the Candiano Canal. The first kilometers are run (or walked) along the banks of the canal before the course turns toward the Teodorico Park, where there is an emblematic statue of an Ostrogoth king from the 5th century ๐, important to the city. Indeed, your route is packed with historic monuments ๐. You will then go to the Rocca Brancaleone Park. You will pass close to the Arian Baptistery, located just before the Piazza del Popolo and the Palazzo Merlato, the town hall of Ravenna. The Neonian Baptistery, known for its Byzantine mosaics, is a place you may want to revisit once the race is over... Just before the Basilica of San Francesco, the pack will pass near the tomb of Dante Alighieri, legendary writer of Italian literature ๐.
