The event in a few words

They have round hats, Long live the Bretons! We couldn't set the mood without a traditional bawdy song! 🎶

If you wish to discover the beautiful landscapes and typical villages of Brittany, how about a little detour to Rennes? The green city is renowned for its medieval houses, exceptional heritage, and unique charm 😍. For several years now, the Green Marathon Rennes School of Business has strengthened its reputation by being the support for the Breton Championships 🏆 of marathon! But one thing will definitely be there, the crazy atmosphere and the crowd that came to support you 🎉.

You will set off in this little paradise in the month of October, when temperatures are still mild, and the landscape shines with autumnal colors. The Green Marathon Rennes offers the 42 km solo, the Marathon Relay Ouest-France in teams of four for those with team spirit and the Bati-Armor Duo for inseparables! The marathon course will also be open to wheelchairs! 🧑‍🦽 And since everyone should find their fit, three other distances are offered to you: the 10 km Lamotte which you can run at night 🌙, the Yves Rocher Women's Run of 5 km for the girl power, and "The Family Walk", a 5 km walk that everyone can participate in, as young as 6 years old 👶. This event boasts an elevation gain close to zero, enabling amateurs not to suffer from climbs and competitors to aim for their new record! ⌚️

You see the kilometers ticking by, and so do the organizers of the Rennes Marathon! That's why they've decided to make it a initiative for the planet with a tree planted per kilometer traveled 🌳. And yes, it's not called the Green Marathon of Rennes for nothing. 😉

Green, like the lush landscapes of the countryside of Ille-et-Vilaine, but not just that! You'll also tread the streets of the Breton capital with its cobblestone streets and many flat sections. Plus, the atmosphere and Celtic dances will be in full swing throughout the course. Then, between nature (along the banks of the Vilaine for the marathon) and city, for the pleasure of your eyes, you'll observe the Vilaine quays, the Parliament of Brittany, the Opera, or the Rennes Town Hall. And for the finish line, a magnificent green carpet (appropriately for the Green Marathon 😆), music bands, and cheerleaders await you, not to mention the food and drinks you can enjoy: sausages and galettes, crêpes, Breton beers, and ciders at the finish... Just like a fest-noz with a US twist! 🕺 For a touch of American grandeur, the out-of-the-ordinary rewards will take your breath away! 🎁 If you're a marathon runner, you can also enjoy a muscle recovery session, thanks to physiotherapy and podiatry students, who will pamper you once the race is over! 💆

Craving even more greenery and culture? Set out to explore the spectacular Forest of Brocéliande, a garden of prestige located just a few strides from Rennes. King Arthur awaits to tell you his stories 📜. For history buffs and Finishers at heart, know that everything is walkable. For those who prefer to stroll post-race, Rennes is one of the greenest cities in France. So, you've got it, there’s no shortage of activities. Rennes is not just a tourist destination: the city is also rich in culinary specialties that will delight your taste buds. On the menu: the mythical Breton crêpes and the divine Bouchot mussels from the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel 🍴.

So, does it feel like Brittany is winning you over?

A few more words

Shoes laced? 👟 Watch on your wrist? ⌚️ You are ready at the starting line to cover 42 km in what promises to be a lively race, in an officially certified Gold Label FFA 🤓 course. The course is a loop that you will complete twice 😉.

The race starts at Mail François Mitterrand, in the center of Rennes. Once you cross La Vilaine, you will wind through the city streets in a labyrinth with a small tour around La Criée (contemporary art center) which ends at the 5th km. You will continue your journey, this time along the riverbank specifically on the docks of the Vilaine 🏃‍♂️.

8th km, take the second exit at the roundabout and the third to rejoin a more urban area that quickly brings you back (2km) to the riverbank, on the other side of the shore this time. 12th km, you enter the center, the visit's program includes: the Place de la République, the Town Hall, the Opera House, the Place Saint-Germain, and the city's most beautiful buildings 🤯.

After a little detour, you can run along the Ille et Rance canal until the 14th kilometer, before turning back and joining the canal on the other side for more than a kilometer. We hope we haven't lost you too much… Okay, let's continue! You are almost halfway there, meaning you will have completed the first loop 👏.

Now that you know the course practically by heart, you can set off again for a second lap. The finish will be at the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle. Congratulations on your great performance! 😍
