Swiss Peaks Trail
Whether an amateur or professional, we all have dreams, goals to achieve ๐ฏ. We are sure the race we will discuss can be part of your dream list ๐ because there are not thousands like it... ๐ This famous race is the SwissPeaks Trail! ๐จ๐ญ As its name suggests, the event is organized in Switzerland โ๏ธ, between the end of August and the beginning of September ๐๏ธ. The SwissPeaks is more than a race, it's an adventure! ๐ And let's not lie, it's an adventure that can last more or less long, from 21 km to 700 km to be precise ๐ซก. Yes, yes, you read that right: 700 km, equivalent to Paris-Marseille ๐, to give you a little idea! ๐ก This year, the event will celebrate its ninth edition ๐, ready to welcome runners from all over the world to discover the beautiful Canton of Valais ๐๏ธ.
Let's dive into the details and talk about distances, because there are options ๐ค. Let's start with the baby of the trails SwissPeaks: the half marathon. It's the shortest distance ๐ค, open to those who aren't fans of long distances but still want to be part of this big celebration ๐. You'll still need to have strong legs ๐ฆต, because this half marathon has 990 mD+ โคด๏ธ. Next up is the marathon, and to be exact, it's even 46 km and 2,480 mD+. Then, SwissPeaks offers a distance of 73 km and 4,400 mD+ ๐. More than just a race, it's a real escape into the heart of nature and the mountains โฐ๏ธ, between the Dents du Midi and the Lรฉman ๐ฃ. Drumroll, please, because the next race crosses the mythical 100 km barrier ๐คฉ. It's a race for really motivated runners ready to traverse a part of Switzerland ๐โโก๏ธ. Just a little more patience โ, there are three distances left for the most motivated... Or the craziest ๐คช, depending. SwissPeaks still has more to offer and proposes major athletes to cover 168 km and 10,990 mD+, with passages through legendary passes like the Col de Susanfe! We are reaching the end, and the last two distances are impressive: 380 km and 26,850 mD+ to be done alone or in duo, and the cherry on the cake ๐ is 700 km and 48,020 mD+. These distances are really reserved for the most experienced, seeking the challenge of a lifetime! ๐ฅ Needless to say, you have plenty of choices, and depending on your level, you can participate in this incredible experience ๐ช. Finally, children will also be part of the event with SwissPeaks Kids and its three courses open to children aged 4 to 12 years ๐ง.
Switzerland is likely to make you swoon, and not just for its chocolate... ๐ซ You'll see, the landscapes are beautiful ๐, the nature is radiant, and you'll have it all to yourself ๐โโ๏ธ. You'll discover superb places that will show you all the colors ๐. From Lake Geneva, through Morzine, the Col de la Forclaz ๐ป, the Mont Gelรฉ, and many other surprises ๐. Finally, after discovering every corner of Switzerland, we suggest you take time to relax and discover some local specialties ๐. And speaking of specialties, how can we not mention the delicious culinary specialties ๐ซ. Whether you are more of a team savory or sweet ๐ฌ, you will find something to delight your taste buds between the delicious fondues ๐ง, raclettes, or desserts like the Engadine nut tart or a good piece of Swiss chocolate ๐ญ.
In any case, this event seems to have all the ingredients to be a great success, lacking only you! ๐
Here it is, the Holy Grail of the event, the mythical distance of 700 km and 48,020 mD+ ๐. This route will allow you to discover Switzerland in all its dimensions ๐จ๐ญ, the entire Valais will be yours ๐. In the heart of the " 4000 " of the Alps, on a route whose reputation is well established, you will travel amidst the wonders that nature entrusts to us ๐ฟ.
We are almost at the end of the distances with the penultimate format of 380 km and 26,850 mD+ โคด๏ธ. Each step will be a precious advance in this beautiful adventure ๐. You will discover magnificent landscapes ๐ฟ, from the Lake Geneva to the Alpine valleys โฐ๏ธ. Keep in mind, however, that this race is reserved for the most experienced athletes and it won't be a walk in the park ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ. But the joy of trail running is that nature knows how to reward effort... โค๏ธ
On the SwissPeaks ๐ง, the difficulty keeps increasing, so here is a new format of 170 km and 48,020 mD+ ๐ค. To give you an example, 170 km is the equivalent of four marathons ๐ฅต. Are you still as motivated after this information? ๐งโ๐ซ In any case, you will still be privileged during this race by discovering the most beautiful peaks and valleys from the Grande Dixence Dam โฐ๏ธ. You'll pass through remote villages, discovering places you would have never suspected existed! ๐ซ
It's time to take on the legendary distance of 100 km and 6,023 mD+! It will require willpower ๐ฅณ, good preparation, and motivation to conquer this very long distance ๐ค . This format is aimed at all runners who always want more ๐. The course allows you to discover the latest glaciers of the Rhรดne Valley leading towards the Lake Geneva, all while crossing the Portes du Soleil ๐.
This route is reserved for trail runners with a minimum of experience as it is not a simple walk ๐. You will need to go through rugged paths and ridges with the aim of connecting the Dents du Midi and Lake Geneva ๐ฃ. But promise, even if it's tough, the adventure promises to be extraordinary ๐คฉ.
The half-marathon of the SwissPeaks is the "baby" of the event! ๐ผ On the agenda: 21 km and 990 mD+, it's the perfect format to escape without losing yourself too much ๐โโก๏ธ. You will take the last kilometers of the legendary 360, passing through Saint-Gingolph and Novel ๐.
The SwissPeaks Trail is also for children! Three courses are offered for children aged 4-12 years ๐ง.
