What if you started the year at full speed? 💥
That’s it, the holidays are over, Dry January is starting and you’re getting back into running 🎉. To kick off your year the right way, we’ve got the perfect race 🤩. In January, Urban Trail Montpellier offers you an original discovery in a must-see city in Occitanie, along a 6 or 12 km course that you can do solo, as a duo or as a company team 💼. A festive atmosphere guaranteed! 🤪
Pick your best costume and turn yourself into an Hérault superhero 🦸♂️. This urban trail is tailor-made for athletes who love enjoying a warm atmosphere and unique routes 🪡. With a late-evening start, the Urban Trail Montpellier takes you into the heart of the Écusson at night 🌙. You’ll have access to iconic alleys and will even go inside historic buildings usually closed to visitors 🔎. You’ll get two unique routes that let you tour Montpellier in condensed form. From the roof of the Corum, you’ll be able to admire Montpellier by night before making your way into the historic center. After crossing the garden of the Hôtel de Sully 🌳 via the cobbled alleys of the Écusson, you’ll have the great chance to pass through the faculty of law, which exceptionally opens its doors for this urban trail 🩺. Once you reach the Peyrou gardens, you’ll find yourself beneath the Arc de Triomphe built in honor of Louis XIV aka the Sun King (for one of the sunniest cities in France! Coincidence? We don’t think so!) 🌞. You’ll then go back in time as you race down medieval alleys, and you’ll be able to admire the famous churches of Sainte-Anne and Saint-Roch ⛪️. You’ll come across the Babote Tower before reaching Joffre High School and the famous “ladders of the city” to really finish off your legs before the finish line 🧨. Of course, it’s not the only historic monument you’ll see, but we’re keeping a few surprises for you 🤫. One thing is certain: the atmosphere will be there, since this race is costumed and family-friendly 🎭. Speaking of children, 4 races adapted to their age are reserved for them, so everyone is happy ☺️.
Just because it’s January doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do in Montpellier! This student city is very lively and always moving 🫨. Stroll around the Écusson (during the day this time 😉), wander through Place de la Canourgue, discover the Antigone district and treat yourself to a tasty stop at Halles Laissac. But if you’d rather get away from the center to avoid the crowds, head south: Hérault has plenty of great places to walk, especially along the coastline 🌊.
So, ready to conquer Montpellier? 👊
This 12 km race starts from Avenue du Pirée, in front of the Regional Council Hotel. This night race takes you to the Écusson. From the very first kilometers, you’ll run along Avenue du Pirée, on the banks of the Lez 💧. At km 2, you cross Parc Rimbaud and head toward the roof of the Corum, where you’ll be able to admire Montpellier from above. After crossing the garden of the Hôtel de Sully 🌳, you’ll have the chance to run through the Faculty of Medicine, which is exceptionally opening its doors to you. You’ll then run along the Peyrou promenade before reaching the Arc de Triomphe, built in honor of Louis XIV 🌞. You’ll have the opportunity to admire the famous churches Saint-Anne and Saint-Roch 🏰. After passing by Lycée Joffre, you’ll go via the city steps: one last push to the Esplanade de l’Europe 💥. Here you are at km 12, ready to receive the medal you so richly deserve! 🏅
Not ready yet for the 12 km? Split the difference and go for the 6 km 🍐. It’s a nighttime tour of Montpellier, in a condensed version 😍. The start is from the Esplanade de l’Europe and the route goes through places like the Joffre high school, the Hôtel Sully garden, the Agora theatre, Saint-Pierre Cathedral, the Opéra Comédie and the city’s stairways 🪜.
