Ready to experience an extraordinary adventure in the heart of the mountains of Isère?🌲 The Vercors Marathon is the event you absolutely must not miss! It’s simply the first road marathon in Europe at over 1,000 m altitude ! 🤯 In fir-tree country, all your senses will be on high alert 🤩. Between the scents of spruce and beech 👃, you won’t know where to turn! 🤗 You’ll also need to stay alert because you might just come across a black grouse or an Alpine ibex 🐐.

Whether you’re into the 10 km, the 20 km, or the marathon, it’s a chance to lace up your running shoes and take on stunning routes, surrounded by the spectacular beauty of nature 🌿. Two hikes are also on the program with the "Resistance Hike" of 11 km and the "Gourmet Hike" of 5 km 🚶‍➡️. Picture yourself crossing the lush forests and breathing the pure air of the peaks 🌬️. These road races 🛣️ in the heart of nature promise breathtaking landscapes and an intensity that will thrill you! ⛰️ The routes are nestled in the largest regional park in France, between the towns of Villard-de-Lans, Lans-en-Vercors, Autrans and Méaudre. You can even climb up to the Col de la Croix Perrin at 1,218 m altitude ⬆️.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there 🎉. After crossing the finish line, why not explore the surrounding area? You could discover the charming city of Grenoble about an hour’s drive away, where the Bastille offers an incredible panoramic view of the region. For thrill-seekers, the Vercors Regional Natural Park is waiting for you for a hike or a mountain bike ride! 🚴 And to top it all off 👑, a little romantic getaway to Lake Monteynard-Avignonet is perfect for relaxing and enjoying an enchanting setting 🌅. For this marathon, you'll set off from Villard-de-Lans! This race will take you on a big loop along the roads in the mountains ⛰️. You'll pass through the villages of Lans-en-Vercors and Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors 🏘️. Watch out for a small challenge on the route that adds 550 mD+ to the total: the Col de la Croix Perrin!

A PPS certificate dated within the last three months is mandatory to take part. It can be replaced with a valid FFA (French Athletics Federation) licence.

Parental consent is required for minors.

You’ll find approximately every 5 km aid stations with drinks and solid food.

Mandatory equipment:

  • Some food/energy reserve

  • An emergency blanket for all courses

  • No paper or plastic cups will be provided at aid stations—each participant must bring their own container (e.g., soft flask or collapsible cup).

Optional equipment:

  • A mobile phone with a fully charged battery

Trekking poles are not allowed (except for hikes). Animals are not permitted on the course.

Bag drop and changing rooms will be available. Please note: bags are limited to 25L (gym-bag style) for the following events: Marathon, 20 km, 10 km and 17 km Heritage Hike. Unfortunately, there will be no showers.

By train: getting to the Vercors by train + shuttle

  • From Paris: TGV Paris–Grenoble in 3 hours, then a road shuttle (45 min). TGV Paris–Valence in 2h10, then a taxi (1 hour) or a Citiz car-share vehicle.

  • From Marseille: TGV Marseille–Grenoble in 2h35 with a connection in Valence. TGV Marseille–Valence in 1h10, then a taxi (1 hour) or a Citiz vehicle.

  • From Lyon: TER Lyon–Grenoble in 1h25, then a coach. From Grenoble, regional buses reach the Vercors in about 45 min (Grenoble SNCF station is 30 km from Villard-de-Lans). Regular services serve all the Vercors villages.

By coach/bus:

  • All year round, regional coaches connect Grenoble to the villages of the Vercors. Departures from Grenoble train station.

By car:

  • From Northern France: about 6 hours from Paris. Route: A6 motorway Paris > Lyon, then A48 Lyon > Grenoble. After the toll, take the Villard-de-Lans exit (RN532). Before the village of Sassenage, turn right towards "Le Vercors".

  • From Southern France: about 3 hours from Marseille. Route: A7 motorway Marseille > Valence, take Valence Sud exit, then A49 Valence > Grenoble. Take the La Baume-d’Hostun exit towards Villard-de-Lans. In Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, follow RD 531 towards Villard-de-Lans.
