From the beauty of Avignon to the delights of Mont Ventoux ⛰, the Vaucluse is a place to experience, a department as culturally enriched as it is blessed with natural treasures. The colors of this region are unique, and so are the flavors. Your runs 🏃🏼♀️ will be too!
The cinema 📽 has good taste. Constantly in search of authenticity and character, film directors have made no mistake with the Vaucluse. Icons of the 7th art like Claude Lelouch and Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner, Alien...) have filmed in this department of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur... You will likely begin your stay in Avignon, the famous City of the Popes. The fathers of the Catholic Church made their home there from 1309 to 1423, building a magnificent ensemble that can still be enjoyed today. They too appreciated the kindness of the 84, filled with castles... What a pleasure to stroll through the historic part of the city, known for its annual performing arts festival. The sun ☀️ is often present, although the mistral 💨 sometimes makes an appearance! After Avignon, many picturesque villages await you in Vaucluse, such as Gordes or Ménerbes, both ranked among the most beautiful villages in France 🇫🇷. You can savor the local olives 🫒 and a good glass of wine 🍷. Some vineyards grow here, and some famous names emerge: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, or Vacqueyras... You will have plenty of choices! After the City of the Popes, perhaps you will want to discover the City of Princes, Orange? The city's heritage is worthy of its past, with notably the castle of the Princes of Orange or the superb ancient theater. Carpentras and Cavaillon are also very pretty towns of the 84. Are you looking for a bit of nature and calm? The Regional Natural Park of Luberon, located between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, is a gigantic natural area of 185,000 hectares, exceptionally rich in terms of fauna 🦅 and flora 🌻. The Luberon naturally attracts many hikers. Another symbol of the Vaucluse, the famous Mont Ventoux, well known to athletes and Tour de France enthusiasts 🚴🏼. Its ascent is known to be very difficult... Your courage will be boosted by the beauty 😍 of the landscapes. At the summit (1910 meters) of this mountain, you'll be on the roof of the Vaucluse.
Shall we look together at the trail calendar in Vaucluse? The "Giant of Vaucluse" awaits you for the Grand Raid Ventoux, worthy of its host's toughness... An ultra trail 🥵 is on the race program, to be done solo or in relay. In Bédouin, still on Mont Ventoux, the Ergysport Trail du Ventoux offers three distances to its runners, with a short trail and two long trails. Enough to gradually tackle this demanding mountain... La Farigoulette sounds like a regional dish and is enjoyed in Cabrières-d'Avignon. With a bit of luck, you might see the lavender fields at the start of their bloom! A discovery walk has been planned by the organizers, for the delight of the whole family 👨👩👦👦 who can participate in the event. The Strawberry Race has also planned a walk in addition to its urban trail event!
Like princes or popes, you too will find happiness in this charming department, the heart of Provence!
