Ready to swap urban gloom for a shot of pure oxygen at over 3,000 m? 🌲
Welcome to the Odlo High Trail Vanoise, where your calves will discover the real mountain without requiring an alpine certificate 😬. Rendezvous in the heart of Savoie 📍, starting from the charming village of Val d'Isère. Here, in summer, the "chic resort" ✨ vibe is replaced with the warmth of an authentic and friendly village where everyone finds their fit 👟.
The menu is generous and suits all profiles, from the "Petite Vanoise Charitable" 8 km 280 mD+ to the more physical challenge 💪. There are six events in total, spread over an intense mid-July weekend ☀️. For lovers of grand spectacle, the main event of 67 km offers a solid 4,100 mD+ 📈. If you're looking for a more intermediate format, the "Trail des 5 Cols" offers 35 km with 2,550 mD+, while the "Balcons" provide 20 km and 1,150 mD+ of pure visual pleasure on the massif 🤩. No one is forgotten: the children's trail of 0.8 km and the youth trail of 1.25 km turn the snow front into a true hotbed of emerging talents 🎉.
Regarding terrain, this is a genuine experience in nature 🤩. While the 35 km and 67 km routes will have you testing shale and rock without a tree in sight 🪨, the entire event remains a beautiful gateway to discovering the trail at altitude, even if you're more used to urban parks 🏙️. If you've seen Les Bronzés font du ski, know that summer in Val d'Isère is much calmer: liqueur is replaced by fresh water 💦 and the "planting of poles" by a dynamic stride 🏃♂️. The highlight? The mythical passage at Col de l'Iseran, the highest road pass in the Alps ⬆️, before diving into the surprising "tunnel of 3000", the peak of your adventure 😎.
The atmosphere is primarily focused on simplicity and self-improvement 🏋️♀️. No need to keep checking your watch throughout your race, enjoy the scenery and forget about performance! 🤗 Between the passionate people completing their first trail and the families enjoying the activities, the enthusiasm is contagious 🚠. Val d'Isère in summer mode is the guarantee of a festive weekend, rich in positive vibes and shared memories 😇. If you have any energy left after your event, don't hesitate to try other mountain sports: mountain biking, via ferrata, canyoning... Activities abound! 🤪 You can enjoy a good afternoon at the spa after all that... with a view of the mountains, please ☝️. A good tartiflette with local reblochon will wait for you afterward to end the day well 🤤.
So, let's stop gazing at the peaks on Instagram and finally come and tread them? 👊
Organizer's Message:
"The Odlo High Trail Vanoise stands out for its inclusive approach to trail running, where the pleasure of effort and self-improvement count as much as performance. This year, the event goes even further by extending time barriers, allowing more runners to fully experience the race up to the finish line. While maintaining its DNA as a technical and demanding high mountain trail in Val d'Isère, it offers varied formats, accessible from beginners to experienced trail runners, to discover or experience trail running in high mountains within a preserved environment (with passages in the Vanoise National Park) and on routes composed of 90% single tracks, in the heart of peaceful nature."
This is the big boss of the weekend 💪. The route reveals a brisk start from Val d'Isère to reach the Col de l'Iseran, before tackling the legendary climb to the 3,000 tunnel. The course strings together technical segments, passages over the Ouillette ridges ⛰️ and steep descents 🦵. You'll also follow the GR5, enjoy panoramas of the tallest peaks of the Alps and pass through the most beautiful villages of Haute Tarentaise and Maurienne. It is a terroir ultra-trail, demanding and wild, for the craziest trail runners 😎.
A condensed and explosive format 💥. The profile shows a succession of steep climbs 📈 and technical descents through five alpine passes ⛰️. You will start "straight into the steep" with the Pointe de Picheru, an abrupt section that will lead you to the Grande Sassière Nature Reserve 🌳. You will also pass through the Col de la Rocheure and the Col des Fours ⛰️, offering breathtaking views of the high altitude lakes. But the highlight of the race comes after the village of Le Fornet: the legendary ascent of the Col de l’Iseran, the highest road pass in the Alps! It’s a leg-breaking route where you need to pace your effort to avoid burning out before the final descent to the station 📉.
A route that lives up to its name, the ascent begins towards the lake of Ouillette, located at 2,500 m altitude ⬆️, offering panoramas of the Haute-Tarentaise 🤩. The route follows balcony trails above Val d'Isère, alternating between rolling sections and more challenging climbs on the sunny slopes 📈, passing through the combe du Laisinant up to the village of Fornet 🏘️. It's the ideal format to discover the technicality of the Vanoise on an intermediate distance, with the atmosphere always at the top 🥁. All that's left is to cross the forest of Balme before reaching the finish! 🏁
An accessible and solidarity loop. The route is less rugged, favoring wide trails around the village 🏘️, while still keeping a touch of elevation for enjoyment 😎. You'll start from Val d'Isère and circle the Calabourdane Stream 💦. It's the perfect race to run, have fun, and discover the atmosphere of trail mountain running without the pressure of the stopwatch 🤝.
Children too will taste the joys of running in nature! 🤗 A little twist, everyone must be dressed up on the start line on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM:
The race bib pickup will be at the Henri Oreiller Center in Val d'Isère. Dates and times are forthcoming.
